Heard on the Street: Boeing buying a supplier it spun off in 2005 exemplifies a realization dawning on corporate America: Outsourcing isn’t all it was once cracked up to be, writes @jonsindreu The deal’s logic of vertical reintegration makes sense in light of recent history, with air-travel safety likely benefiting from centralized supervision and a simpler workflow between plants. Yet it is also an indictment of what executives in most industries have been doing for almost three decades. Reintegration is a strategic opportunity for HR leaders.

This week's news update discusses the topic of workforce and supply. From an agency's point of view, working with experts daily, we always hear the same thing: there are not enough experts in the industry. A few weeks ago, we wrote a news blog about new talent coming into aviation. Seeing huge companies addressing this issue globally, especially at MRO Americas, may start to change the tides of investment in manpower. Hopefully, we will see a significant shift in the next year to support workers and businesses alike. https://lnkd.in/edfDD7Xu

PR | Boeing President and CEO Kelly Ortberg shared the following message with all employees: Kelly shared some difficult decisions and several program updates: - On the B777X program, the challenges we have faced in development, as well as from the flight test pause and ongoing work stoppage, will delay our program timeline. We have notified customers that we now expect first delivery in 2026. - We plan to build and deliver the remaining B767Fs ordered by our customers and then conclude production of the commercial program in 2027. Production for the KC-46A Tanker will continue. - In BDS, our performance on fixed-price development programs is simply not where it needs to be. We expect substantial new losses in BDS this quarter, driven by the work stoppage on commercial derivatives, continued program challenges and our decision to complete production on the 767 freighter. I will be providing additional oversight of this business and these programs. https://lnkd.in/eS8-aYBR
