Environment Determines Growth The lid on the jar conditions the flea to under achieve. You may have heard this story before. A flea placed inside a jar will very quickly learn its limitations and begin to jump with less enthusiasm. After spending some time in the jar it becomes conditioned to jump just short of the lid to avoid the pain of hitting its body against it again and again. Once this conditioning has happened, the lid can be removed, and although the flea is more than capable of jumping out the jar, it does not. Our environment can limit our growth. If we are constantly rubbing shoulders with negative, small- minded people, we too will become just like them. It is true that a fish remains small if it is placed in a small pond but can grow to its full size if left to enter the ocean. You and I need to be careful that we avoid that natural tendency to be a big fish in a small pond. Is your chosen environment limiting or stretching you? How? #Inspiration #MondayMotivation

📚Embarking on a literary journey with "The Kite Runner: Rejacketed" has been nothing short of transformative. 🌈 Khaled Hosseini's words are not just ink on paper; they are a symphony of emotions that resonate long after the final chapter. 🎭 This tale of friendship, redemption, and the complexities of human connection is a poignant reminder that our stories are intertwined, often shaped by the choices we make in the crucible of life. 💫 💡 The Kite Runner teaches us: 1. No matter the mistakes of the past, the path to redemption is always within reach. 2. Our decisions echo through time, affecting not only our lives but the lives of those around us. 3. In the face of adversity, the human spirit has an uncanny ability to soar like a kite caught in the wind. 🌍 As we navigate our own journeys, let's draw inspiration from this literary masterpiece. Let's strive for redemption, make choices that resonate positively, and celebrate the resilience that resides within each of us. 📖 Have you been captivated by "The Kite Runner: Rejacketed"? Motivational Short Story < Flea in the Jar > A group of fleas are placed in a jar with a lid on it. The fleas initially try to jump out of the jar, but they keep hitting their heads on the lid. Eventually, the fleas stop jumping as high and learn to live within the confines of the jar. One day, the lid is removed from the jar, and the fleas are free to jump as high as they want. However, even though they are no longer confined by the lid, the fleas continue to jump only as high as the lid used to be, as this has become the limit that they have imposed on themselves. The story is often used as a metaphor for how our own beliefs and limiting thoughts can hold us back from achieving our full potential. Just like the fleas, we can become so used to living within certain limitations that we may not even realize we are capable of breaking free from them. The lesson of the flea in the jar is to recognize the limitations we place on ourselves and to challenge them in order to reach our full potential. #Inspiration #TGL #coachalic

Tips, tricks and tools to boost EI skills for health and improved performance. Preventing stress and anxiety with training, coaching, and corporate courses.
Oh dear, Auntie Joyce's pan again! 🍳 I was reminded today of the mangled aluminium pan my aunt kept in the kitchen cupboard. At times of rage, she would take it out and smash it on edge of the Belfast sink. 🤬 She was a passionate woman. By the time I was 8 it was shaped much like a spoon. (Great sink – not even a chip – what she did after the kitchen refit I cannot imagine.) But today they were discussing Gwyneth Paltrow on the radio, and her habit of expressing anger by hitting things with a plastic bat. 🦇 (Don't be ridiculous) Not against people – obviously – the woman is not an idiot, even when skiing.⛷ But it made me sigh. There are theories and strategies for expressing emotions against safe targets, which I will not discuss, but I do not recommend them. Not that I recommend taking an actual baseball bat to anybody of course! Even lying scumbags out to make a buck are protected by the law! 👩⚖️ And too many innocent people know what it is to BE that punch bag. 💔 But there are much, much better ways to quickly and easily disengage and deactivate powerful emotional drives. Techniques that can leave you feeling relaxed, happy and empowered; not feeling exhausted and no further forward in life. Why would you smash things up if you could simply feel better by choice? (That's basically what emotional skills training is for. You learn how to 'do' emotions skillfully.) ⚠️The danger is in establishing a path of least resistance. Emotion is energy in motion, and like all energy, it finds the easiest pathway. ⚡ And behaviour shapes your neural pathways. Habitual patterns of behaviour create super highways in your brain, hardwiring your responses, creating a default setting. And just remember ... The Grand Canyon started with a trickle of water. 🤨 So how do you express your anger? (And has it ever cost you more than a bent pan?) 🤭 #CampbellEducation #TheEngineHouse #EmotionalTraining #ThinkAgain

I help law firm owners save 20+ hours a month and $15k+ year in taxes with expert bookkeeping and tax strategy.
Five thoughts from my annual canoe trip. Every year since senior year of high school me and 8 buddies do a canoe trip. I’m 44, so this is our 25th year or something like that (I think we missed 2 in that span). We used to actually go canoe. Now we hang out at an isolated cabin with nothing to do but toss a football and sit around and talk. Lessons from the trip. 1. Having a place to talk about what’s actually going on in life where people just listen, don’t judge, and offer advice only if asked, is priceless. 2. It’s hilarious what comes up in conversation when you sit around for hours with nothing else to do but talk. 3. It’s okay to take a weekend away and just do nothing. 4. There’s no better feeling than meeting up with your friends and seeing they’re genuinely excited to see you… 5. Except having people in your life where you feel exactly the same way about them. 363 more sleeps till the next trip! Cheers.

"If you want to change the world sometimes you have to slide down the obstacle head first" This is my favourite excerpt from the famous "Make Your Bed" speech by Admiral William H McRaven: "At least twice a week, the trainees were required to run the obstacle course. The obstacle course contained 25 obstacles including a 10-foot high wall, a 30-foot cargo net and a barbed wire crawl, to name a few. But the most challenging obstacle was the slide for life. It had a three-level 30-foot tower at one end and a one-level tower at the other. In between was a 200-foot-long rope. You had to climb the three-tiered tower and once at the top, you grabbed the rope, swung underneath the rope and pulled yourself hand over hand until you got to the other end. The record for the obstacle course had stood for years when my class began training in 1977. The record seemed unbeatable, until one day, a student decided to go down the slide for life head first. Instead of swinging his body underneath the rope and inching his way down, he bravely mounted the TOP of the rope and thrust himself forward. It was a dangerous move — seemingly foolish, and fraught with risk. Failure could mean injury and being dropped from the training. Without hesitation the student slid down the rope perilously fast. Instead of several minutes, it only took him half that time and by the end of the course he had broken the record. - If you want to change the world sometimes you have to slide down the obstacle head first." Video of the full speech is here:
