The First Nations Digital Inclusion Advisory Group and Expert Panel recently met in Darwin for its fifth meeting for 2023. Mapping the Digital Gap researchers Associate Professor Lyndon Ormond-Parker (Deputy Chair of the Advisory Group) and Dr Daniel Featherstone (Expert panel member) were in attendance, engaging in initial planning for a First Nations Digital Inclusion Roadmap. This Roadmap will build on the strategies outlined in Group's initial report to Communications Minister Michelle Rowland MP, released in October 2023. #digitalinclusion #firstnations #closingthegap #target17
Yesterday, we met in Garramilla (Darwin) for our fifth meeting of the year. Our main focus was discussing our workplan for 2024, including how to best progress the recommendations of our initial report which we released last month, and the development of a longer term roadmap for First Nations digital inclusion. We spoke about work being done across government and industry to improve First Nations digital inclusion, including the School Student Broadband Initiative and the deployment of LEOSat services in remote communities. Thank you to the NT Indigenous Business Network for kindly hosting us at your offices. #DigitalInclusion #target17
