🎉 Safeguarding Legacy Mines with LiDAR Mapping! 🏆 I had the opportunity to process an innovative LiDAR dataset for a Capital Aggregates mine site in Missouri. By integrating underground 2018 SLAM scans with current UAV/terrestrial LiDAR in Maptek's PointStudio, we created a game-changing 3D visualization! This comprehensive 3D model revealed hazardous areas like roof collapses and thin overburden, allowing precise hazard mapping onto the surface terrain. Capital Aggregates can now barricade unsafe zones, extract remaining reserves through abandoned workings, and prioritize worker safety. LiDAR mapping combined with powerful point cloud processing is the key to unlocking safe operations at legacy mine sites.
