𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗜 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲: 𝗤&𝗔 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗗𝗲𝗻𝗶𝘀 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 Denis is a Lead Accountant in Denver, Colorado, for our subsidiary MPLX. He and his wife volunteer with Canine Companions®, a national organization that provides service dogs to people with disabilities free of charge. 🐕 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻? We are volunteer puppy raisers for Canine Companions. We get a puppy when they are two months old, and we are responsible for all the expenses to support that puppy: food, vet bills, toys and transportation back to the regional training center in Oceanside, California, when it is time for the puppy to go to professional training.  𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝘃𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴? Our strongest passion is for Canine Companions because it provides the opportunity to work with dogs and support the humans in our community on a national level. We enjoy the dogs and the people – the human-canine bond – associated with Canine Companions. It is so fun raising a puppy from two months old, seeing how smart they are, watching them mature and go through professional training, and then ultimately finding their primary purpose on this earth. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗲 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲? We are so blessed financially, physically and mentally, and we are very grateful for that. We feel it is so important to be generous and share the abundance of blessings we benefit from to support those less fortunate. The benefit to our own well-being, mental health and sense of gratitude is immeasurable.  🐾 #CanineVolunteer #LeadWithIndependence #WhyIGive #MPCgives #MarathonPetroleum

I love hearing stories such as this - I hope it inspires others to do the same! It is a challenge for me, working FT, having 3 kids (one we are still raising) and 2 grandbabies; I also have 5 dogs and 1 cat. But, I prioritize volunteering: I volunteer for schnauzer rescue out of Cincinnati, OH, All Starr Pets in Lima, OH, at our church, 'free' babysitting for family, cat cuddlers at our local Humane Society, our school's SOS program, club soccer coach, and always open to help others out. It is so rewarding and frankly, just loving people and animals is what this world needs more of! I encourage everyone to chip in and make an impact on their community - there are so many ways to help!
