Are you experiencing a similar issue with your marble surface? Stains and etches are a frequent concern for natural stone due to the porous nature of marble. Worked with United Commercial Services on this very old and very damaged granite and marble floor discovered under some carpeting in a well known downtown property. Restoration was challenging and tedious but well worth the effort in the end. Process: Adhesive removal, deep honing to remove scarifying marks, lippage removal due to soft and hard stones interlaced, leveling, crack repairs, diamond polishing, and etch protector applied.

Question: How do you care for granite? 💡 Answer: Granite is popular not only for its natural beauty but also because it is so easy to maintain. Clean by spraying and wiping with a neutral cleaner. Periodic sealing is also recommended. #Granite #InteriorDesign #NaturalStone

We got a sheepish email from someone yesterday (who will remain anonymous) about a different project. But the closing comment summarised a conversation we have with so many "And yes, lesson learned" Being able to resolve these issues as well as educating the clients on what to expect/ how to avoid in future is all part and parcel of the service. #naturalstone #restoration #renovationproject #propertydevelopment
PROJECT • FEATURE Stone Type: Limestone Surface: Floor Sometimes even new floors require restoration. The white, powdery deposit across this limestone floor is known as efflorescence. It is a phenomenon that we see most commonly in newly laid floors and occurs when moisture gets underneath the tiles. Luckily it can usually be completely restored. Across three days we used hybrid diamond abrasives in 5 stages to remove surface damage and salt formation before refinishing the stone and return it to its original condition. To help protect against future reformation of the effloresce mid way through the process we also applied a deep penetrating sealant. It's not all about old stone. Very often Athena Stonecare Ltd.'s services are called upon to correct issues encountered with new stone installations. It might be that we're asked to simply provide a 'finishing touch' with a final polish and seal after months of footfall from trades. Or occasionally, problems can be encountered with moisture or the coverings used to protect natural stone during a build. Whatever the enquiry, we're never looking to point fingers of blame, but simply to help find a resolution. We want to ensure that your client is left with the floor that they dreamed of with as little additional cost and disruption as possible. #naturalstone #restoration #renovationproject
