RANDOM POST ALERT... One of the cool things about being a health government relations (GR) professional is reading about the advances made in disease detection, prevention, and treatment. I am encouraged and hopeful. I believe I'll see a day where obesity will be an exception, pancreatic cancer will be detected long before it starts doing damage, and cancer can be controlled or cured through immunotherapy. AIDS will be a distant memory, Alzheimer's will be controlled with daily doses of medication, and AI can solve the mystery of seizures. Once dreams, these advances in healthcare are in sight. To all of my fellow health GR professionals, stay in the fight. We are doing big things which enable providers, researchers, and public health officials the tools to tackle some of the world’s biggest health challenges. #LetsGo #CarpeDiem

It’s #menshealthweek which raises awareness of the health issues that affect men disproportionately and focuses on getting men to become more aware of health problems they may have or could develop and gain the courage to do something about it. More at https://lnkd.in/dHBZpX8 and more at https://lnkd.in/e8SpvpAc Men don't talk, we're told. So for Men's Health Week 2024, men are being encouraged to share their stories. Men should take their lead from King Charles who, earlier this year, shared that he had a problem with an enlarged prostate. On the day after his announcement, there were 16,410 visits to the relevant National Health Service website page compared with 1,414 visits the previous day. Prostate Cancer UK saw an almost doubling in the number of users of its online risk checker. This goes to show the difference that honest sharing can make. Most people won't have same impact as the King - for a while in the UK media, it was difficult to avoid urologists talking about the prostate and the things that can go wrong with it - but if there is a taboo about men's talking, well, the best way to beat a taboo is to ignore it. You can now order the new manual 'P For Prostate' https://lnkd.in/ekYnftGF looking at all aspects of the prostate - from where it is and what it does through to various problems it can cause for men. But it's not just prostates men should be talking about. Whatever's going on with your health, sharing it may well help you and, by putting a difficult topic on the agenda, it will certainly help others.
