OCD client "but then I'll never know for sure!" Madison says : Like anything else in the world we can never be 100% certain about anything. However it’s that functional certainty that we have in non- obsessional situations that we’re trying to move towards. Every day when you get in your car, you don’t have 100% certainty that you’re not gonna be an accident however, you still trust you’re driving abilities that you get in the car and drive knowing subconsciously you might get into an accident There are non-obsessional situations that you don’t have certainty about every day that you still do, despite not having that certainty. We walked down the stairs not knowing if we will fall down them, cross the street not knowing if we are going to be run over, we work out not knowing if we’re gonna have a heart attack or not. And I know you’ll most likely tell me “but I do know” and truly you don’t. The differences you trust these non-obsessional situations when they’re no different than obsessional ones. The only differences your ability to trust yourself. Searching for 100% certainty of anything is an exhausting process. In OCD therapy whether ERP or ICBT we try to learn that you don’t need certainty to live. And instead have a sense of trust in yourself instead of trust in OCD Follow @obsessivelystrong for more OCD and related content Register for our free webinar with her!! https://lnkd.in/dkk9Ctuq or visit us at https://lnkd.in/dkUxBYaA Let the healing begin! #clusterc #obsessivecompulsivedisorder #ocd #ocdawareness #ocdrecovery #ocdproblems #ocdhelp #ocdsupport #ocdtherapy #ocdcommunity #ocdtreatment #ocdawarenessweek #ocdrelief #ocdadvocate #obsessivecompulsive https://lnkd.in/dwgXvwwp
