Interesting article on the candidate job search and employer landscape. I think this narrative would resonate globally. Summary as follows:
THE PROBLEM
New technology aimed at improving job hiring hasn't worked as intended, stymieing both candidates and hiring managers.
WHY IT MATTERS
Firms are missing out on the best talent, as too many people get lost in a rising sea of candidates.
THE SOLUTION
Pay attention to the weaknesses of new hiring technology and deploy more humans or different tech where needed.
Can “…Deploy more humans …” be a solution? Really? Which company can afford to do that?
I believe the solution is:
- scrap resumes and cover letters in the job application process. If you must, ask only questions related to technical qualifications, certifications and work rights IF they are relevant to the role.
- give ALL candidates a fair go, by harnessing the power of AI-based chat interviews.
- make the interviews “blind”, inclusive and untimed.
- provide ALL candidates personalised responses and feedback.
- leave the hiring decision in the hands of humans - recruiters and hiring managers - informed by objective traits & competency data from the “blind” interview.
