Technology was created to enhance our life and enjoy it. Why do people care so much about capturing a video of the Arc de Triomphe lighting up in a million colors and posting it on social media? Why do they prefer this over putting their phones away and cheer, hug, kiss and laugh with their friends/family? Imagine the following conversation: - Gustav: "so where did you spend NYE?" - Gregoire: "at Champs Elysées, it was awesome man, so many people, lights, colors, fireworks. Here... look at this video I capture" (... shows video) -Gustav: "that's fantastic. Who did you get to kiss or at least hug?" ** awkward silence ** -Gregoire: "... but look at the lights, breathtaking!!!" ** awkward silence ** It's genuinely sad to see this plethora of people putting social media front and center in their lives, rather than living the moment and sharing it with their loved ones. (PS: I made up the names, no reference to an actual person is being made...)

A Stubborn Digital Optimist, Impatient Learner, Enthusiastic Beginner, Possibleist & Common Sense Practioner

We (Humans) used to celebrate the New Year with hugs, kisses, sing songs, dancing and expressions of joy and celebration; now it seems we just video fireworks for clicks on Social like here in Paris (+-1 million people) on the Champs Elysees 🤷 So much for being present and living the moment; (fair play to the couple mid/bottom right for sharing an "old school" embrace and kiss 😊) I love technology and am a committed digital optimist; however, we may have to redefine what it is to be "Human."

Chacun possède sa conception de ce qu'il est pertinent de poster sur les réseaux sociaux. La réalité se vit ; elle ne se visionne pas : j'espère que l'humanité s'adaptera positivement aux changement actuels et à venir. 🙂

This is true, and I hope humanity will get ahead in its learning curve on how to leverage thech to its benefit, rather than to demise of its social construct( among other things)

It’s what I call an adverse effect that got built into the generational and behavioral DNA. A screen provides a layer of safety perception from the unknown experiences of the outside world, this definetly tames curiosity exploration and discovery… is it again Lamarck vs Darwin? adapt or evolve, seems Lamarck is wining this time! ..

Marc Khayat what you said is very true. As a society we need to be better at intentionally living in the moment.
