This paper investigates #reconfigurable #intelligent #surface (#RIS)-assisted #simultaneous #wireless #information and #power #transfer (#SWIPT) #Internet #of #Things (#IoT) networks, where energy-limited IoT devices are overlaid with cellular #information #users (#IUs). IoT devices are wirelessly powered by a RIS-assisted #massive #multiple-#input #multiple-#output (#MIMO) #base #station (#BS), which is simultaneously serving a group of IUs. By leveraging a two-timescale transmission scheme, precoding at the BS is developed based on the instantaneous #channel #state #information (#CSI), while the passive beamforming at the RIS is adapted to the slowly-changing statistical CSI. They derive closed-form expressions for the achievable spectral efficiency of the IUs and average harvested energy at the IoT devices, taking the channel estimation errors and pilot contamination into account. Although the two requirements may appear to be in contrast to each other, the authors investigate possible integrated solutions that minimize device connection and service provisioning. They follow an approach where the proposals are reviewed by grouping them based on the reference architectural layer, i.e., access, network, and application layers. This article proposes coalitional game-based broadcast #proxy #re-#encryption (#P-#RE) in IoT—a broadcast P-RE for adding new IoT devices. The P-RE is extended to broadcast P-RE to prevent recalculation of the #re-#encryption #key (#ReKey). However, the group of recipients needs to be predetermined before the calculation of the ReKey. If any new IoT device requires the same data, an individual ReKey is generated for him/her. Hence, generating individual ReKey is an overhead for the organization. The authors propose a ReKey updation for the broadcast P-RE method. If excessive IoT devices want to join the group of the existing recipient, then updation needs to be done learnedly as an excessive number of recipients in a group increases the computation cost of the decryption extremely for all the members of the group. Therefore, they use the #coalitional #game #theory to estimate the optimal number of new recipients from all new recipients. They update the ReKey for the optimal number of members and a separate ReKey is calculated for other recipients. They prove the correctness of the CBP. This work presented a novel approach for #context-#aware connectivity and processing optimization of #Internet #of #Things (#IoT) networks. Different from the state-of-the-art approaches, the proposed approach simultaneously selects the best connectivity and processing unit (e.g., device, fog, and cloud) along with the percentage of data to be offloaded by jointly optimizing energy consumption, response time, security, and monetary cost. The proposed scheme employs a #reinforcement #learning algorithm and manages to achieve significant gains compared to deterministic solutions.
