This well-written and easily accessible information (even for those less technical) digs into the role that #LLMs bring to #cybersecurity. It starts off by quoting Marcus Hutchinson of the #NotPetya fame; "exploitable vulnerabilities exist in the space between how cybersystem designers think their system works and how it really works." It has four parts: 1. Review ways by which LLMs are commonly adapted to specific uses, emphasizing instruction and conversational fine-tunes, tasks for which they are evaluated, and their fundamental limitations. 2. A description of what to us are the most salient threats LLMs represent in cybersecurity, be they as tools for #cybercriminals or as novel attack surfaces if integrated into existing software. 3. Attempts to forecast the exposure and the development of technologies and science underpinning LLMs, as well as macro levers available to regulators to further cybersecurity in the age of LLMs. 4. Experts present #mitigation techniques that should allow safe and secure development and deployment of LLMs. Download and check it out!

Prof. Domalewska’s research team, including experts from the War Studies University and the University of Rzeszów, is exploring how cyber threats impact national identity and public opinion. Their findings will help develop effective educational and informational strategies to combat digital manipulation. 🔔 Interesting week in my cybersecurity journey. Security of information systems and our assets is a top priority for we individuals and organizations at large. This past week, had the privileged to be taught by Prof Naqvi Syed from John Moores University Liverpool and Dr. Konang of the University of Bamenda. During this week of intense studies, had to opportunity to learn different web based and software based attacks and their counter measures. Wish to thank the program coordinator Prof. Fouotsa Emmanuel for the great contributions towards the success of this program. We are still accepting new abstract submissions for the 23rd European Conference on Cyber Warfare and Security (ECCWS 2024). The conference will be hosted by University of Jyväskylä, Finland on 27-28 June 2024.  ECCWS provides a forum for technical exchange about the study, management, development and implementation of systems and concepts to combat cyber warfare or to improve information systems security. There are several strong strands of research and interest that are developing in the area including the understanding of threats and risks to information systems, the development of a strong security culture, as well as incident detection and post incident investigation. ⌚ Back then imitation was the name of the game… 🎥 10 years ago, as the movie The Imitation Game was about to hit cinemas, I finally got myself (and my bike) along to Bletchley Park Trust in the UK. It had been a longtime aspiration of mine to visit the home of such computing and cybersecurity history. 🪖 During the Second World War, cybersecurity wasn’t a thing. In fact computers weren’t really either. However the developments at Bletchley brought a new awareness by helping to break the Enigma Code. This in turn gave Britain’s naval fleet the information and locations of the enemy and helped them to navigate the seas to get valuable supplies through. 🔐 Arguably the techniques used in acquiring data and breaking the Enigma cryptographic codes makes Bletchley Park, not only the home of computing, but of cybersecurity too. In today’s day and age cybersecurity and technology has only grown in importance and reliance across society - yet the fundamentals, concepts and complexities are still challenging for many. Five research projects will increase Sweden’s resilience against cyber attacks. To address the high-priority challenges society and industry face in cyber security, WASP has invested heavily in multidisciplinary research projects and recruitments during 2023. Now five projects have been awarded grants – all focusing on cyber security in AI, autonomous systems and software. “The need for improved cybersecurity is urgent in both society and industry. The five extensive projects that WASP is now launching add unique value to Swedish industry and society and have long-term effects that will strengthen Sweden’s ability to withstand cyberattacks. The goal of these world-leading research projects is to consolidate fundamental research in the field and make Sweden more competitive in cybersecurity,” says Anders Ynnerman, Program Director for WASP.
