I was recently contacted by a recruiter for an Accounts Payable position. While I appreciate the offer and understand why they reached out given my 10+ years of experience in the field, I decided to decline. My current role allows me to significantly influence the Accounts Payable landscape and address common challenges faced by AP professionals. Many view AP roles as simply paying bills, but that's far from the truth. We are hardworking individuals who often put in overtime to protect a company's bottom line and ensure smooth operations. Here's my response to the recruiter: Hey, Thank you for reaching out to me regarding the Accounts Payable position that you have open. I’m truly grateful that my experience in Accounts Payable has garnered so much attention. However, I will have to decline the offer. I'm currently working in a role that allows me to influence the Accounts Payable field more significantly than I could as an Accounts Payable Specialist. With over 10 years of experience in Accounts Payable, I understand the complexities and challenges involved. My current position at a SaaS company leverages Artificial Intelligence to innovate and streamline the AP process, ensuring a better working experience for specialists like myself. From my experience, many AP professionals face similar issues—too much work and not enough time to complete it. My current company has significantly reduced these burdens through its solutions. If you need to fill this position, I can refer a few candidates your way. Please don't take this the wrong way—I sincerely appreciate you reaching out. Keep in touch, and let me know if you need qualified financial specialists. One thing I know is that AP/AR will never go out of style, and every company needs it.
