We are deeply encouraged that REPAIR Impact Fund portfolio company Revagenix, Inc. has raised a Series B, which along with substantial non-dilutive financing will take multiple programs to clinical proof of concept. Novo Holdings was the sole investor in the Series A in 2020, and since then the management team has advanced several antibiotic discovery programs into late pre-clinical testing, and attracted Tenmile Capital to lead the Series B. Revagenix, like the bird Phoenix, rose from the ashes of the bankruptcy of Archaogen, which had successfully developed and launched the antibiotic Plazomicin. The team led by Ryan Cirz knows both what it takes to create a novel antibiotic but just as importantly also what doesn’t fly commercially and financially.  New members of the board of directors include Mike Lamprecht from Tenmile, Bruce Montgomery, an advisor to Novo Holdings, and Cristina Larkin, previously COO of Spero Therapeutics. Raising money for antibiotic companies is unbelievably difficult right now. The Revagenix management team has shown that with the right team and science it is still hard but possible. I also know through everyone’s connections there is power in numbers.  If you are reading this in the first day or 2 of me posting, it’s because I know or have known you in some way thru my life so far and wanted to let you know. On 12/15/23, I became a cancer patient when I was diagnosed with SLL/CLL. A “rare” form of B-Cell Lymphoma affecting 1 in 2000 under the age of 55 with fewer than 200,000 people living with it in the US. With such a low relative percentage as it relates to our population, I would never have thought it could affect me and my family. Heck, I didn’t even know what it was, until now. My hopes are to use what I can raise to give back and contribute what I can to finding a cure. Anything beyond my goal, to start something "withpurpose" and use it to encourage a concept I have always embraced "pay-it-forward". I appreciate anything you can do to help share my story and contribute what you can. I believe that the world could use a lot more “kind” in it. I’m reminded of it every time I drop off my youngest to elementary school as the words “choose kindness” are spelled out on the fence using some colorful plastic things.  I recall watching the movie “Pay it Forward” shortly after 9-11.  I was on the drive thru line at a local coffee place.  I got to the window to pay.  With a smile, the clerk hands me the drink and my card, but rather than take my money, tells me to “pay-it-forward” and that the car in front of me bought my drink, a complete stranger. I sat a moment and remember thinking how good it made me feel. Before driving off, I asked her if I was the first car who it happened to.  She tells me she’s seen it done once before, but that yes, I was the first and to enjoy my day. Rather drive off, I pulled out a $50 and gave it to her and asked if she would do the same for the car(s) behind me.  She smiled, and said absolutely.  I’m not sure if it went on for 1 car, 10 or all day.  I’ll never know who that car in front of me was, or how long it went on for after I left, but I know it left a mark on me.  So, to that person in the car ahead, thanks for that.

Prescription drug affordability is a real issue. Many cancer patients and survivors have difficulty affording the cost of their prescription drugs. To help, many individuals receive copay assistance offered through programs like charitable patient assistance. These programs give patients access to life-saving drugs that they otherwise could not afford. Sadly, while they are saving money, the amount of support does not count toward their deductible. Only the funds spent by the patient count. This leaves patients with significant costs.
