🏥 Did you know your hospital classification as inpatient or outpatient can significantly impact your Medicare coverage and costs? Medicare Part A covers inpatient hospital stays and post-hospital care in a skilled nursing facility, but only if you're an inpatient for at least three days. Outpatient care, which includes emergency services and observation, falls under Part B and doesn't cover post-hospital nursing home care. If your status is changed from inpatient to outpatient, you can appeal to regain Part A coverage. This right, secured in a 2020 lawsuit, ensures you can challenge reclassifications that affect your benefits. Learn more about your rights and how to protect your coverage. Big changes are on the horizon! Starting October 1, Ohio is set to adopt the Patient-Driven Payment Model (PDPM), with an enhanced focus on respiratory care in skilled nursing facilities. This new model emphasizes patient conditions and care needs, underscoring the importance of precise documentation and superior care delivery. Steven Schabes and I will be attending the OHCA conference on May 14-15, and we’re eager to discuss how Sigma Health Rehab specialized Respiratory Program can support facilities in adapting to these standards. We look forward to exploring collaborative opportunities to enhance care under PDPM. Let’s connect at the conference to see how we can work together to navigate these changes successfully. #HealthcareReform #PDPM #RespiratoryCare #ValueBasedCare #Medicare #SkilledNursing #OHCA2024

CPT news! 97550, 97551, and 97552 are new for 2024. The codes are designed to address situations in which there is a need to provide caregiver education in the interest of an individual patient or group of patients without the patient present. Beginning Jan. 1, Medicare will cover all three codes in all outpatient/Part B settings including private practice, hospital outpatient, rehabilitation agencies, skilled nursing facilities, and home health. #rehab #physicaltherapy #occupationaltherapy #speechtherapy

From healthcare providers to home care agencies, nursing homes, and social services, it's clear that seniors and their families need a more #integratedcare network. A fractured system can lead to inefficiencies, gaps in #care, and an overall decline in quality of life, which has impacted most seniors. But, by positioning AAC as referral-to-services points within the network, we can fix it and make an extensive #network of senior care & community. #WerkDone #ActiveAgeing #SeniorCare #SmartHealthcare #DigitalTransformation #Technology #AgeingPopulation #AIC #ActiveAgeingCentre #ReferraltoServices #Singapore

If your community is not utilizing ISNP’s, now is the time to begin discussing this value based care option with leadership. Big changes are coming 2025 which compliment ISNP alignment, and it’s a beneficial option for residents. Imagine being told that there are Medicare plans fully invested in day to day health outcomes through NP or PA care delivery with attending physician and nursing home staff collaboration. This is not remote patient monitoring or the occasional telehealth, it is chronic care support within a community available to residents through a partnered ISNP Medicare plan. If your loved one is in a nursing community, I also encourage asking about this great option. #ISNP #longtermcare #skillednursing #medicare #patientchoice #education #patientcenteredcare

Patients are missing out on a collective 1.8 million days of health and social care a year – as unsuitable products force nursing and care staff to spend longer than necessary tending to those with incontinence. New insight indicates the average patient in a hospital or care home setting with the inability to self-manage their condition, will demand 75 minutes of a carer’s time every day, covering up to five changes. But those caring for these patients warn this is 78 per cent – or 42 minutes – longer than would be necessary if better-fitting products were procured. With an improved approach to continence services, procurement practices, and better patient services, nurses and carers predict they could carry out two fewer changes a day, reducing each change by four minutes.
