Today I will tell you about the CentralAsia and Caucasus GeoPortal. This portal gives us a username and password through a short registration. This username and password is not just for the portal, one of the good things is that we can use this username and password to access ArcGIS Pro. It is true that the user license in ArcGIS Pro covers the basic level, but it is a good opportunity for those who want to learn beginner ArcGIS Pro. We can use hundreds of data and map services in the Content section of the portal, and we can also share our content with the community. In the Tools section, we have MAP VIEWER, SURVEY123, STORYMAPS , INSTANT APPS, DASHBOARDS, EXPERIENCE BUILDER, FIELD MAPS and NOTEBOOKS, whose tools we can use free of charge. Here is the documentation that covers how to use each tool. Another section is the Training section, where you can get free training on various topics. I think this portal is a good initiative for GIS users. However, it would be good if Geo AI was included in this portal. At least if they add basic pro artificial intelligence tools to the license, People who are new to this field would have the opportunity to test it. There were many amazing discussions and presentations at today’s Esri Canada Federal #ConnectedCanada event. Here are just a few of the topics that were covered: - Adoption of the Geographic Approach in the Federal Government -> Julie Leese former Chief Digital Officer of Transport Canada had many inspiring words around the democratization of tools and data while promoting the individual philosophy of ‘be the change you want to see’. - GeoAI Tools in ArcGIS -> Lexxi Clement and Ravz Virk, PhD presented a compelling demonstration of GeoAI (machine learning, deep learning, and computer vision to automate and enhance geospatial analysis) and AI Assistants (embedded within ArcGIS tools to boost productivity by automating repetitive tasks and providing intelligent suggestions). - Creating Accessible Web Applications -> Fabien Ancelin and Mark Gallant provided valuable insight into addressing accessibility requirements within the Esri enterprise. - Housing Crisis in Canada (PSPC) -> Jérémie Emond Director General, divestiture, PSPC and President, Real Property Institute of Canada, had inspiring examples of bringing about change when tackling affordable housing. #esri #gis #federalgovernment

𝗘𝘀𝗿𝗶 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗶𝗮 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗟𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵 𝗗𝗖’𝘀 𝗔𝗜-𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 ‘𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀’ Leveraging generative AI from the global leader in GIS to power maps, dashboards, and analysis using open data The Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) and Esri, the global provider of geographic information system (GIS) technology, location intelligence, and mapping, launched a public beta version of the ‘DC Compass’ which uses generative artificial intelligence to answer data-oriented civic questions and create maps from thousands of open data sets. The launch follows a 6-month private beta which allowed DC to work with Esri to improve the software to provide intuitive answers to requests. DC Compass is powered by Esri’s cloud-based mapping and analysis platform ArcGIS Online. The new Compass AI Assistant can be tested at opendata.dc.gov. OCTO and Esri indicated they want more users to put the new software to the test and want feedback to continue to improve the speed, accuracy, and usefulness of DC Compass’ responses. You can access the Compass Online using an existing account or by creating a free community account.

Exploring the Power of NetCDF for Scientific Data Management I'd like to introduce you to Network Common Data Form (NetCDF), a powerful set of software libraries and self-describing, machine-independent data formats that is transforming scientific data management and its growing applications in deep learning. Its hierarchical structure, featuring dimensions, variables, and attributes, provides a flexible framework for storing and organizing complex scientific datasets like meteorological data used in climate modeling, oceanographic data for studying marine ecosystems, and astronomical data from telescopes. NetCDF's self-describing nature ensures data comprehensibility over time, facilitating effortless data sharing and collaboration across diverse platforms. In deep learning, NetCDF's structured format and multidimensional array support have made it a popular choice for storing and processing large-scale observational datasets, particularly in Earth science and remote sensing. By offering a standardized representation of spatial and temporal data, NetCDF simplifies the development of deep learning models capable of extracting insights from these complex datasets. Libraries like TensorFlow and PyTorch seamlessly integrate with NetCDF, enabling researchers to easily load and preprocess data for training and evaluation. NetCDF's versatility extends beyond storage and organization, enabling efficient access to subsets of massive datasets, adapting to evolving research needs, and supporting long-term data archiving initiatives. Furthermore, NetCDF's concurrent read/write access capabilities empower collaborative workflows, allowing multiple users to seamlessly interact with and analyze the same dataset. Compared to other data formats like HDF5 or CSV, NetCDF strikes a balance between flexibility and ease of use. It's not the easiest thing to learn, and you definitely need some tech skills to use it properly, but its part of our fundamental toolkit for various research domains.
