Introducing Fun Fridays! There is a popular saying that your colleagues are not your friends, though I somewhat agree (as some people have more defined labels for people in their lives). If one third of a person’s life is spent at work, what then would you call the people you spend this time with? You may not call them friends but they are  definitely not some random acquaintance hence it is important to make that time spent fun and memorable. Suffice to say that as with every relationship, it is important to set clear boundaries and remain professional in your interactions. In order to foster this narrative, I am starting a new post series: Fun Fridays! 🥳 Starting this week, every Friday, we'll be diving into light-hearted, engaging topics to spark creativity and foster a positive workplace culture. To kick things off, let's start with a fun workplace interaction fact: Did you know that employees who have strong social connections at work are not only happier, but they're also more productive? How to Celebrate National Fun at Work Day Tomorrow, January 26, is National Fun at Work Day. It was created to inject a little fun into the workplace to help bond coworkers, boost morale, and increase productivity. It is an excellent opportunity to show appreciation for those we work with. So, how can we celebrate? Here are 10 ideas to bring a little extra joy to your workplace: 1. Catered lunch or office potluck 2. Organize an office scavenger hunt 3. Have a talent show during lunch 4. Have a themed cook-off (Chili, cupcakes, pumpkin) 5. Bring in board games 6. Give out a goodie bag or care package (fill with stickers, pens, silly string, candy, and DIY crafts) 7. Create a book club (this would work great for virtual businesses) 8. Host a virtual wellness day (yoga class, healthy food cooking class, guided meditation, or workout class) 9. Employee appreciation (ask everyone to write a short note of appreciation for everyone else in the organization or team.) 10. Get to know your co-workers' bingo (create a bingo card with fun facts about each other. 🧑💼👩💼 New employees, new opportunities! 🍰   Every new colleague brings a breath of fresh air and new perspectives to the company and team. It’s nice to see how small gestures can have a positive impact on the office atmosphere. For a few weeks now, we can enjoy the baking skills of a new employee 🍪 🍰 and we are very thankful for this.   Each of us contributes to the culture and atmosphere. A small reminder to us: You can make a positive contribution to the atmosphere with small, kind gestures. You don't even need a homemade cake – it can be simple as bringing a colleague a coffee or lunch, a few sweets for the team or just encouraging or cheering words.   These little things create a friendly, welcoming environment in which everyone can feel comfortable. Together, we create a workplace that is characterized by respect and appreciation. Fun in the workplace is essential, not just a luxury. It fuels creativity and innovation. Enjoyment and laughter encourage out-of-the-box thinking. Fun also strengthens team building, creating more effective collaboration and camaraderie. It combats stress and burnout, improves well-being, and makes a workplace more attractive to top talent, particularly young professionals. Contrary to popular belief, fun actually boosts productivity by energizing and motivating employees, leading to better performance. We have fun embedded into everything we do. It's in the small daily interactions where we send each other memes as reactions to emails and WhatsApp messages to add emotion to our reactions. Even going as far as adding funny GIF memes to external presentations, giving our partners something to smile about. At lunch, we have a horn that rallies everyone to lunch to interact and talk about non-work things, but not before we play a game of Foosball. Above the Foosball table, we've hung 7 disco balls, simply because we enjoy them. We constantly strive to bring freshness to everything we do. So, we don't celebrate birthdays in the traditional way with some cake someone brings in. Instead, we celebrate everyone's birthday on the same day. We move from one group to another every hour, dressing up in six different outfits ranging from gala to camping, engaging in five different activities from an obstacle course to laser game in the building, and even a cocktail workshop. And every year, Christmas is about doing something that our team loves. And that is picking out a new pair of sneakers for their Christmas gift from Fresh Bridge. Following on from last week’s steps challenge, it became clear that Jamie was our winner, hitting a step count of 68,765 steps across the week, with Leanne not far behind with 60,804, and Charlotte in 3rd place with 58,587. A special mention goes to Ellie, whose steps improved by 102%! This week, we're switching it up and doing a Random Acts of Kindness challenge. From Monday, to Friday, we encourage everyone to participate in daily acts of kindness. Whether it’s offering a compliment, helping with a task, or simply listening to a colleague, every act counts.
