PLEASE READ AND SHARE- IMPORTANT!! 🚨 Calling all Michigan education institutions focused on literacy! 🚨 The Storehouse’s mission is to decrease poverty and increase prosperity in Michigan. As a former educator, I know that a key to reducing poverty starts with a solid foundation in education. Unfortunately, many students across our state do not have adequate access to the literacy materials they need to succeed. We have an incredible opportunity to source MILLIONS OF DOLLARS (semi truckloads!!!) worth of high-quality books—books that could make a transformative impact in our communities. However, to bring this vision to life, we need your help. Our immediate needs include covering small freight costs and, most critically, securing storage space. WE HAVE TO MAKE A DECISION END OF DAY TODAY! Here’s how you can support this initiative: 1. Donate funds to cover our storage needs. 2. Donate warehouse space to house these valuable resources. 3. Partner with us to develop a plan for equitably distributing these books across Michigan. If you have connections to state or local government entities that might have the resources or contacts to support this initiative, please reach out. Let’s not let our kids and communities miss out on this amazing opportunity due to limited space! Together, we can make a difference. 📚 #Literacy #Education #Michigan #Nonprofit #CommunitySupport #TheStorehouse

County leaders may limit how much money they give to nonprofit groups and projects serving low-income neighborhoods in light of looming budget challenges. The Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors today is considering capping community spending per district at $1 million, but potentially raising the ceiling to $2 million for districts with greater need, such as District 2. The county’s technical term for such spending is “inventory items.” During the budget process, supervisors can propose one-time funds related to various community programs.
