September marks Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month, dedicated to raising awareness about the various types of cancers that affect a woman's reproductive organs. This includes ovarian, cervical, uterine, vaginal, and vulvar cancers. Early detection and understanding the risks are crucial, as these cancers can be life-threatening but are often treatable when caught in the initial stages. During this month, we emphasize the importance of recognizing symptoms, knowing family history, and staying informed about preventive measures and screening options. It's a time to honor those affected and to spread knowledge that can save lives. Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK, with approximately one in seven women being diagnosed in their lifetime. A challenging aspect of this condition is the management of malignant fungating wounds , which can lead to distressing symptoms such as #leakage, #malodour, and pain. We're proud to share a case study from The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, which highlights the effectiveness of #Cinesteam in managing a complex fungating #BreastWound. Brenda, an 83-year-old patient, was suffering from a #malodorous breast tumour. Despite various dressing regimens, the strong #odour and high levels of exudate persisted, causing her undue distress and impacting her quality of life. Cinesteam®, a NEW, cinnamon containing dressing designed to control unpleasant odours was commenced. After a short time of using Cinesteam®, Brenda reported a significant improvement in the malodour from her wound. She also appreciated the pleasant cinnamon fragrance of the dressing. This case study underscores the importance of focusing on adding life to years, not just years to life. With Cinesteam®, we aim to improve the (#QoL) quality of life for patients like Brenda by managing symptoms effectively and restoring their self-esteem. Experience the #CinesteamDifference in your practice today. Let's work together to improve the lives of patients and carers. #QualityOfLife #BreastCancer

Saving lives together. Annual mammograms are an important way to screen for breast cancer, but many patients skip their annual appointment or have never had one. At Onsite Women’s Health, we partner with OBGYN and Primary Care practices – like River Place Ob/Gyn in Austin, Texas – to offer convenient in-office breast imaging services for patients in conjunction with their provider visit. “Outside of skin cancers, breast cancer is the most common cancer that women deal with,” says Dr. John Thoppil with affiliate River Place Ob/Gyn. “A mammogram by far is the mainstay diagnosis…and, is what improves survival. When breast cancer is caught early the cure rates are very, very high.” Watch as Dr. Thoppil and Dana Wicker, women’s health nurse practitioner with River Place Ob/Gyn, shed light on the importance of annual mammograms and how their practice can help all women get screened: https://bit.ly/48YpfK2. #OnsiteWomens #BreastCancer #EarlyDetection #Austin #Texas #OBGYN #PCP

#DYK Fewer than 1 in 5 Canadian adults meet sedentary behaviour recommendations & nearly half get the recommended amount of physical activity each week. On average, Canadian adults spend 9.6 hours of their day being sedentary, including 3.2 hours daily engaging in leisure screen time. It is recommended that adults limit daily sedentary time to 8 hours or less per day with no more than 3 hours of leisure screen time. Regular physical activity over your lifetime protects against colorectal cancer, bladder cancer, esophageal cancer, kidney cancer & stomach cancer. Getting active can also reduce the risk of breast cancer, lung cancer & uterine cancer. #StandUpToCancer #sitless #movemore #physicalactivity #inactivity #sedentary #sedentarybehaviour #cancer #stopcancer #cancerprevention #fitness #health #prevention #cancerawareness #prescriptiontogetactive https://lnkd.in/gW3B2Jh6
