💡🏠🌞 We’re happy to celebrate with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)-funded Southern Africa Energy Program (SAEP) for providing first-time energy access to more than 3 million homes and businesses in Southern Africa! 💡🏠🌞 Since its inception in 2017, SAEP, implemented by Deloitte Consulting LLP, has increased electricity access throughout the region through technical assistance to utilities and the off-grid private sector. As USAID’s flagship implementing mechanism for Power Africa in Southern Africa, SAEP has advanced over 750 activities in 10 countries and contributed to Power Africa’s goal to connect 60 million new homes and businesses to power by 2030. For families with children studying at night or entrepreneurs trying to expand a business successfully, electricity access makes a world of difference. We’re proud to have played a role in extending electricity and its economic, health, and educational benefits to underserved communities throughout Southern Africa. #EnergyAccess #Electricity #CleanEnergy #RenewableEnergy #MiniGrid #HydroPower #Angola #Botswana #Eswatini #Lesotho #Madagascar #Malawi #Mozambique #Namibia #SouthAfrica #Zambia #SDG7

Excellent news for RMI! #locallyled #deloittepartner #climateaction #energyaccess
I’m excited to announce that RMI has been selected as an implementation partner for The World Bank's Distributed Access through Renewable Energy Scale-up (DARES) project in Nigeria. The $750 million multi-year program is a game-changer, utilizing innovative financing solutions to scale up private sector-led clean electricity provision. By 2030, the project aims to provide clean and reliable energy access to over 17.5 million Nigerians and empower 200,000 micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises. RMI's role will focus on de-risking and project preparation, which will allow for integrating distributed renewable energy sources like embedded generation and interconnected minigrids to join Nigeria's distribution networks. We believe that Nigeria’s energy future must include forms of energy that are increasingly distributed, decarbonized, and digitized. Being an awardee of the World Bank’s DARES project is a testament to our commitment and capability to bring innovative distributed renewable energy solutions to regions that need them the most. Through our Catalytic Climate Capital (C3), RMI is committed to mobilizing funding through private, public, and philanthropic partnerships to catalyze private investments and accelerate the deployment of clean energy solutions in Nigeria and beyond. Senegal has produced its first barrel of offshore oil. It is off to a phase of ramp-up of production in several phases and which will last, in principle, 20 to 25 years. Congratulations to the teams of Woodside Energy, Petrosen, the Ministry of Energy and all the Senegalese companies who had to play a role in this unprecedented project for our country!
This is an historic day for Senegal! Woodside has achieved first oil from the Sangomar field offshore Senegal, marking the safe delivery of the country’s first offshore oil project. We are proud of the partnerships we have formed with PETROSEN, the Government of Senegal and our key international and local contractors to develop this nationally significant resource.
