Is there Judaism without believing in God? Off course there is. Most Jews don't believe in God. In fact, in the UK, most paid synagogue members don't believe in God. Jewishness is more than religion. More on the subject of how central is belief in God to being a good Jew in this fascinating insight from David Graham. And check out our podcast, Jews Do Count, where Jonathan Boyd and Raymond Simonson 🎗 discuss these topics and more!
#DidYouKnow? In our landmark survey of Jewish identity in the UK, we asked 4,900 members of the JPR research panel, “𝗗𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗚𝗼𝗱, 𝗮𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗯𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 #𝗕𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲?”. Only one in three said they do, which is about the same proportion found in the general population, according to a YouGov survey from 2020. Does that mean #Judaism is declining? Well, this is where it gets interesting. According to our survey’s data, more than half (56%) of paid-up #synagogue members do not believe in #God, and nearly two in five #Jewish atheists belong to a synagogue. Moreover, irrespective of whether they belong to a synagogue or not, two out of three (65%) Jews who don’t believe in God attend synagogue at least on the High Holy Days of Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur. At the same time, four in five #Jews celebrate #Passover every or most years. Jews, it seems, are pretty comfortable belonging without #believing. How important is belief in God to being ‘a good Jew’? In his latest insight, JPR’s Senior Fellow Researcher David Graham dives into the numbers and comes up with some fantastic conclusions. https://lnkd.in/eJp5w6NH

This is the manuscript of the second sermon in the Christ Church Los Angeles sermon series leading up to election day in the United States, which is Tuesday November 5, 2024. But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body. (Philippians 3:20-21 NIV) Oftentimes, our reactions to the prevailing political-partisan issues are due to a lack of perspective. Yes, who is elected President of the United States, the Senate and the House of Representatives and our state and local offices is important. It matters and could have profound consequences for people, policies, and nations. However, it is easy to be so consumed with the media hype and heated rhetoric that we lose sight of the fact that Christians, believers, have dual citizenship. We have spiritual citizenship in the Kingdom of Heaven. While we are citizens of the United States our ultimate loyalty and hope lie in a heavenly realm which is ruled by God and not man. In the Kingdom of Heaven, the greatest are the humble, the merciful, and the peacemakers. Those who serve others are exalted, while those who seek their own glory are humbled. Let us embrace our citizenship in the Kingdom of Heaven and strive to live out its values in our daily lives. May we be beacons of hope, love, and righteousness in a world that often seems dark and troubled. And may we always remember that our true home is not here on earth, but in the Kingdom of God, where peace and joy reign eternal. #Election2024 #ElectionDay #Election #KingdomOfGod #kingdomofheaven #humility #humble #Citizenship #citizen

How not to be a Chocolate Christian or How to change Ch-rch to Church! Have you ever noticed that chocolate melts under pressure & heat? If you haven't, take a piece of chocolate and hold it between your fingers! It will soon melt! If you are a Christian, you need to be active in your local church so that you don't melt under pressure and you will remain firm in your faith! Otherwise you will be a chocolate Christian who easily gives up under the stress and pressure of every day life!At a church local to where you live, you are needed regardless of who you are!Perhaps this is you? Interested observer but not a committed Christian Not bothered Not good enough Just want to be left alone Don't know how to be involved Don't know why being involved is important Too busy But why should you be involved? Why? You have talents to be used!! When Jesus said to His apostles "I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father." (John 14:12), it was through the promised Holy Spirit (John 14:17), and the impartation of Spiritual Gifts that His words were fulfilled. The reason that the Holy Spirit imparts spiritual gifts to Christians is so that the body of Christ is built up (Ephesians 4:12), for the common good of the church (1Corinthians 12:7, 14:12) and "so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ." (1 Peter 4:12). These three reasons signify that God wants Christians to be active in service and not still like stagnant water. That is why we have been given gifts and if these gifts are not used for God's purposes, then they are utterly useless and meaningless. And the gifts are not just the supposedly spectacular gifts but also the supposedly mundane! Cleaning is as much a spiritual gift as preaching is! As we are not to neglect our gifts, or let other Christians neglect their gifts, we are to fan the gifts into flame (2 Timothy1:6). Much like blowing on embers and stirring them up will restart the flames of a fire! To do this, as Christians, we are to employ the gifts faithfully and by asking God to continue their development, strengthening and for opportunities to use them! Seek gifts that build up others, commands Paul (1 Corinthians 14:1-12). Ask God faithfully for gifts that give opportunity for service to God and others! Why? We are dependent on each other As Christians, we are dependent upon each other, just as one part of the human body has dependence on another part. That is why we serve each other and use the gifts generously given by God. As all Christians have gifts, we have a responsibility to discover and develop them (1 Timothy 4:14)! God has called Christians and equipped them with spiritual gifts, and they are not to be neglected! You are a member of the body of Jesus Christ the church! If you are not being active that means the

Continuously Improving Many organizations, including our ministry, use surveys to determine ways to improve their services. The tension is determining legitimate issues that need to be addressed versus those multiple issues raised by rare people, who I like to say, “have the spiritual gift of criticism.” In Acts 6, the Apostles received a complaint. In verse 1 we read, “A complaint by the Hellenists arose against the Hebrews because their widows were being neglected in the daily distribution.” The apostles determined this to be a legitimate complaint. Desiring God’s best for the church, the apostles improved the functioning of the church by selecting deacons to serve these newly discovered needs. To have continuous improvement in your business: 1. Identify the issues 2. Discern the legitimate ones 3. Take action to improve those legitimate issues. Credit: Rick Boxx #GodAsCEO
