Demand for the company’s yachts has remained strong despite the higher interest rate environment, mainly fuelled by cash-rich consumers who are generally indifferent to economic cycles. According to the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA), sales of new recreational boats in the US have been steady at 266,000 in 2022 and 269,000 in 2023. This is comparable to levels seen in 2016 and 2017 despite prices now being 50 per cent higher.

You may have seen it elsewhere on LinkedIn this week, purely copied and pasted to a yacht broker's LinkedIn profile with no credit to Lidija (until she called them out, bravo!). This is not acceptable. You can not simply repost any content you see online and purport it to be yours in origin. Occasionally, some slip through the net because they have been shared multiple times and the original source gets lost in the reposting, however in this case the person could see who the content creator was and made no attempt to even rewrite the caption. One of the biggest issues is that many people in the industry don't care. I regularly have conversations with brokers who tell me directly that copyright isn't a concern of theirs and they repost videos and photos from anywhere online. I stopped working with one because he kept sending me random videos he found online with no idea of the source and asking me to post them to his account - even after discussions about the impact of plagiarism and copyright. Think before you post in your quest to be the broker with more followers! In tandem with this, we have brokers who get very little support with marketing assets from their own in-house marketing departments so they are doing their best to promote themselves and what they do. Here's a few true horror stories from yachting companies : 🛑 One brokerage illegally used the logo for a high-profile event on their social media posts. They weren't a commercial partner of the event and were fined €12,000. 🛑 One brokerage who used a sailing regatta image on their communication.....€3,000 infringement from a licensing agency.
