We need the right knowledge about fire so we can: - Accomplish the task in the least amount of time - Avoid the large damage - Stop the danger to personnel The class of fire: - Class A Fire: Fire involving solid materials, like wood, rubber, and paper - Class B Fire: Fire involving liquids, like gasoline, oil, and paints - Class C Fire: Fire involving gases, like methane, propane, and acetylene - Class D Fire: Fire involving metals, like magnesium and sodium The class of fire above shows us that fire can happen anywhere we are because of the things we have. So we need the right skills to extinguish the fire! #Fire #Safety #Survival #Oil #Gas #Emergency #Offshore #Onshore #Rescue #Aid #Security #Education #Leadership #Collaboration #Innovation #Excellence

🛢️Oil spills are an environmental disaster, but what can we do to prevent them? Oil spills can cause extensive damage to the environment🌍, wildlife🦚, and local👫 communities. Polluting our oceans 🏄 and rivers, oil spills can contaminate drinking water, damage ecosystems, and harm wildlife. However, there are steps🚨 we can take to help reduce the likelihood of oil spills. Companies should take measures to prevent spills from occurring in the first place, such as conducting regular safety 🦺 inspections, properly maintaining equipment, and using proper storage methods. 🔀Industries must also have robust emergency response plans in place, such as having access to resources to contain and clean up spills quickly and safely. 🔀Governments can also play a role by providing financial assistance for oil spill prevention and response, as well as regulating the industry. By implementing regulations, conducting regular safety checks, and having efficient emergency response plans, we can work together to reduce the risk of oil spills and protect our environment. #oilspill #oilspillresponse #safetymanagement #safetytraining #safetyregulations

"A Houston firm suspected to be linked to an oil leak that spilled up to 1.1 million gallons of crude off Louisiana’s coast faced questions over the incident on Tuesday as cleanup and response efforts pushed ahead. Authorities say the oil has not affected the shoreline, though at least a couple of oiled pelicans have been spotted in the area. Overflights, boat surveys and skimmers have been employed as part of the response. The leak reported on Thursday about 20 miles northeast of the mouth of the Mississippi River occurred near the Main Pass Oil Gathering company's pipeline system. MPOG is owned by Houston-based Third Coast, which has not responded to requests for comment and did not attend a briefing on the spill organized by federal authorities for the news media on Tuesday. The 67-mile pipeline was shut by 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, but engineering calculations determined that up to 1.1 million gallons of oil may have been spilled by then, the Coast Guard says. Those estimates, first reported by WWL Louisiana, were not released until Monday in a statement by the Coast Guard, which said initial meter readings had to be further confirmed. A multi-agency response to the spill has been using remotely operated vehicles to search for the spot of the leak, but has not yet located it. Seven producers are affected in the area, with production shut for all of them. Capt. Kelly Denning, commanding officer for the Coast Guard’s New Orleans sector, said there are multiple pipeline operators in the area of the leak. She said that while MPOG was suspected to be responsible, that had not yet been definitively determined..." #Offshore #OilSpill #pipeline #Louisiana #DeepwaterHorizon #MississippiRiver #MPOG #USCoastGuard #BSEE https://lnkd.in/gncYfUHm

The Railroad Commission of Texas is facing criticism over inadequate oversight of abandoned oil wells, which are reactivating and causing environmental hazards that landowners say the regulator is slow to address. A recent Southern Methodist University study linked a major 2022 orphan well blowout to increased underground pressure from nearby wastewater injection operations, and critics say poor well-plugging practices and lax enforcement are exacerbating the problem. #texas #railroad #oilwells #abandonedoilwells #landowners #regulation #smu #orphanwells #wastewater #texasoilindustry #oilandgasindustry

Latest #Concawe Report on European cross-country oil pipelines performance is now available! 💧 We have collected 52 years of spillage data on European cross-country #oilpipelines. At over 35,000 km the current inventory covered by the Concawe survey includes the majority of oil pipelines in Europe, transporting 640 million m3 per year of #crudeoil and oil products. This report covers the performance of these pipelines in 2022 and a full historical perspective since 1971. 📉 The performance over the whole 52 years is analysed in various ways, including gross and net spillage volumes, and spillage causes, grouped into five main categories: mechanical failure, operational, corrosion, natural hazard and third party. 🔎 A total of five spillages were reported for 2022, one of which was theft-related. The other four incidents are below the long-term running average of 0.42 spillages per 1000 km per year, which has been steadily decreasing over the years. There were no fires, fatalities or injuries connected with these spills. Thanks to Michael W. Cech, John Armstrong, Wim Guijt, Andreas Haskamp, Ignacio Huidobro Barrio, Johan Dekeyser and Jean-Francois Larivé. Read the full report on our website: https://rb.gy/cpunrg
