Last week, I had the exclusive opportunity to visit Butcher Island as Convenor of AMTOI’s Western Region Chapter, joined by Dr Sharmila Amin, Women’s Wing Convenor, and Ms. Nishita Modi, Co-Convenor for the Women’s Wing. Organised by AMTOI’s Western Region Chapter and Women’s Wing, this visit brought together 50 members, including convenors and co-convenors, in what was an exceptionally rare experience, as the island is typically closed to the public. About Butcher’s Island: Butcher’s Island, located a few miles off the Mumbai coast and managed by the Mumbai Port Trust, serves as a critical hub for crude oil reception and refined petroleum dispatch. This isolated facility protects Mumbai from potential hazards associated with petroleum handling, such as explosions, fires, and pollution. CONCOR Strengthens Commitment to Sustainable Logistics at Global Rail Convention Blueman Exim News | New Delhi | Jan. 26, 2025 At the 11th PHDCCI Global Rail Convention, Mr Sanjay Swarup, CMD of Container Corporation of India (CONCOR), reiterated the company’s unwavering focus on sustainable logistics during the “Chai Pe Charcha” session. CEAT, one of India’s leading tyre companies making passenger car, two-wheeler, truck and bus, light commercial and off-highway tyres, has entered into a definitive agreement with Michelin to acquire its Camso brand off-highway construction equipment bias tyre and tracks business. The deal, valued at around USD 225 million in cash, will comprise the business with revenues of over USD 213 million for fiscal year 2023, as well as global ownership of the Camso brand and two cutting-edge production facilities in Sri Lanka.
