Urgent action needed: consultations are being held on whether to continue with gluten free prescribing, which can be a life line to many needing to access a gluten free diet to maintain their health, especially in the current cost of living crisis. The current Integrated Care Board (ICB) consultation is reviewing the provision of prescriptions in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland which may come to an end if we don't act fast. Coeliac UK is strongly opposed to the proposal and is committed to advocating for continued access to essential gluten free substitute products. Within the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland area over 1300 individuals with coeliac disease and dermatitis herpetiformis depend on prescriptions, and removal here will set a further precedent for removals in other areas. Unfortunately however, that narrative is something that's very much alive and well."   Lauren @lauren_talking_shite was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease in 2018 after five years of unexplained symptoms. She explains why she finds myths around diet so frustrating, and how when people give unsolicited advice they usually mean really well, but unfortunately it can do more harm than good.   If you have Crohn’s or Colitis, what you eat may affect your symptoms. But it is different for everybody. There’s no one-size-fits-all advice on diet. There is no evidence that following a particular diet can cure Crohn’s or Colitis.
