But have you noticed how the demolition and construction industry has become adept at distracting us all from the important bigger picture by bombarding us with the minutia? We're not building enough human houses, so let's talk about homes for hedgehog. We're not attracting enough women into the industry, so let's focus on how their PPE fits. We're failing to attract enough young people into the industry, but let's make absolutely sure that our advertising is politically correct. Under any photos are just the right mix of male and female, brown and white. And if you can include someone in a wheelchair, that would be just dandy. We've lost 1400 workers to suicide in two years, so let's issue guidance on the dangers of slips and trips. It's 8 1/2 years since four men were killed at Didcot Power Station. We still don't know why, but never mind. Let's hold a nice cozy meeting with the demolition trade associations and hope that no one mentions it. When did this happen? When did we become too afraid to actually tackle the real issues facing the industry? When did we become so fixated on a single tree that we lost sight of the forest?
