Dear Colleagues, A recent publication in the American Journal of Case Reports by authors from Charles University, Prague, Czech Republic, reports the association between non-compliant therapy for congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) and the development of adrenal tumors. The case report highlights the extreme enlargement of adrenal glands in a 42-year-old woman who discontinued therapy during adolescence. The multidisciplinary team recommended the bilateral removal of giant myelolipomas. The findings reinforce the suspected link between non-compliant CAH therapy and the promotion of adrenal tumor growth. This report underscores the importance of adhering to medical treatment guidelines for CAH patients to prevent serious complications. The complete report is now available on the American Journal of Case Reports webpage. | https://lnkd.in/gj7fQd-c

B cell depletion is one of the most efficient treatment regimen in #multiplesclerosis, yet its clinical efficacy remains largely enigmatic. In our recent study led by Can Ulutekin and Galli Edoardo at the Becher lab of the University of Zurich we performed longitudinal profiling of MS patients undergoing B cell depletion. We uncovered B cell/T cell interactions mediated by the CD27/CD70 axis as potential driver of the clinical efficacy of B cell depleting therapies. Many thanks to all our valuable collaborators and the patients that donated samples for this study! Paper: https://lnkd.in/eWP_aU_k X-torial: https://lnkd.in/eK2SuGeE

In an Exploratory analysis of CLEOPATRA trial: In patients achieved complete radiological response ( CR) in the first scan after having Docetaxel + phesgo, will have significantly better PFS & OS than those achieved partial response Radiological CR at first tumor re-evaluation was associated with a 60% risk reduction for death compared to SD (adjusted HR = 0.40) The same was observed for PFS with adjusted HR = 0.30 However, no variables were found to expect who will get CR

Dear Colleagues, A recent publication in the American Journal of Case Reports sheds light on the challenges in diagnosing and managing gastrointestinal schwannomas. These rare, slow-growing tumors often present as incidental findings during diagnostic tests for other conditions. The case study of a 57-year-old woman with an asymptomatic submucosal jejunal schwannoma highlights the importance of surgical treatment for definitive diagnosis and achieving clear surgical margins. With a good prognosis, understanding the role of jejunal schwannomas in the differential diagnosis of gastrointestinal tumors is crucial. Engage in peer discussions to enhance our knowledge in this area. The complete report is now available on the American Journal of Case Reports webpage. | https://lnkd.in/dcAbGHCb

Neuromyelitis optica (NMO) is a devastating neurological disease characterized by severe optic neuritis and transverse, longitudinally extensive myelitis. Recently, its disease-specific serum autoantibody, NMO-IgG, was discovered in an indirect immunofluorescence method. Based on a study of the sera of 13 patients with high titres of NMO-IgG, its target antigen was identified as aquaporin-4 (AQP4) water channel protein mainly expressed in the brain and spinal cord. NMO-IgG was highly sensitive (58–76%) and specific (94–100%) to NMO, and NMO-IgG seropositive status is now incorporated in the revised diagnostic criteria of NMO.

A study was done in a prospective tertiary cohort with CLD, to assess clinical performance against liver biopsy of different Noninvasive methods (NIMs) : 1.For advanced and bridging fibrosis: LIVERFASt Fibrosis test, Enhanced liver fibrosis score (ELF), FIB-4 and LSM using vibration controlled transient elastography (VCTE). 2.For steatosis (mild, moderate and marked): LIVERFASt Steatosis test and CAP (Fibroscan) in NAFLD patients, including a control group with CLD without steatosis (S0)]. Conclusion: • LIVERFASt can be an alternative to imaging methods for stratifying patients with NAFLD and NASH. • LIVERFASt is a blood biomarker for fibrosis and steatosis staging fibrosis and steatosis with similar performances to VCTE/CAP in patients with CLD. • LIVERFASt and VCTE outperformed ELF for staging advanced liver fibrosis. #liverfast #fibronosticsstudies #NAFLD #NASH Find out more https://lnkd.in/guJqrVEy

✔ The Survey of Challenges in Access to Diagnostics and Treatment for NET Patients (#SCAN), which measured access to diagnostics, treatments and monitoring for neuroendocrine tumor (NET) patients globally, identified poor patient awareness of diagnostics, treatments and clinical trials, likely due to poor access to NET information. Patients believed GPs lacked NET knowledge and struggled to obtain information from healthcare professionals not specialized in NETs. ☑ Check out more insights on “Global Challenges in Access to Diagnostics and Treatment for Neuroendocrine Tumor (NET) Patients” in the INCA review article, published in the Journal of Neuroendocrinology with open access: https://lnkd.in/eQJk_4bw #LetsTalkAboutNETs #NeuroendocrineCancer #NETResearch
