We keep documenting commercial HVAC systems with a ton of building leakage. Systems that run intermittently should have damper to close any outdoor air when they're "Off" (meaning, setpoint met). Or they just waste building air. Here’s one I saw the other day from the inside, air blowing in and out with the breeze. Poor kids. Does the NCC explicitly require dampers on OA for HVAC systems? There’s some language here: > "J5D6 Exhaust fans “An exhaust fan must be fitted with a sealing device such as a self-closing damper or the like when serving— 1. a conditioned space...” And then some explanatory reference to AS 1668.2 “miscellaneous” exhaust fans, which seems to mean everything except smoke exhaust. I can’t believe that dampers aren’t more explicitly required for ALL intermittent systems. We need to change this. For comparison, the International Energy Conservation Code says, Dampers shall be provided for ALL systems part of the building thermal envelope (that's most of 'em). https://lnkd.in/gxe6G7C5 Requires motorized dampers, except for small systems or small buildings, which can use gravity dampers: https://lnkd.in/gahZQZ7S But, dampers everywhere. The bigger the building, the better the damper. Am I missing something? Let's get serious about this. It's a huge energy waste, and it's eminently addressable! #HVAC #Commissioning #Airtightness #BECx

Ductless Heat pumps advantages over traditional HVAC systems: 💥Energy efficiency-Mini split systems can use up to 60% less energy than standard HVAC systems because you can control the temperature in each room individually. They also don't waste energy due to leaky or poorly insulated ducts. 💥Air quality-Mini split systems have a filtration system that removes harmful particles from the air, and they're easier to keep clean than duct systems. 💥Customized comfort-They allow you to heat and cool different rooms or zones independently, so you only need to condition the spaces you're using. 💥Easy installation- Mini split systems don't require extensive ductwork or space-consuming central units, so they can be installed quickly and efficiently. 💥Flexibility- can work in almost any room or space, and some models can connect up to four indoor units to one outdoor unit. 💥Heating and cooling-They can provide both heating and cooling, so you can stay comfortable year-round.

If you’re thinking of upgrading your heating system, consider this: The typical furnace in a central HVAC system lasts an average of 20 to 25 years, but a quality boiler-based heating system may last 30 to 60 years or more.

Have your HVAC requirements changed? Cooling load requirements can change due to many reasons, whether expanding a building or just that the current requirements can’t be met by your current system. But installing the right air-cooled scroll chillers for your building will allow superior capacity control to meet your needs. This way, expansion plans and all the changes that happen inside a building won’t limit the amount of cooling the chiller provides, even if the load eventually changes! If your HVAC requirements have changed, contact us to discuss your HVAC and cooling needs so your building will be ready when you need it! #VerticalSystems #VerticalSystemsHVAC #HeatingAndAirConditioning #HVACSystem #HVACInstall #ComfortCooling #OptimizedPerformance
