Good morning Linkedin Land Internesting podast on recruiting withing a CV here. This has been a point of discussion for years, and no doubt using a CV as your go to insight on someone’s fit for a role, brings a load of cognitive bias, and is not always a reliable indicator of future potential. However I am not sure the answer is to ditch CV’s entirely, which is what this podcast is advocating, but rather use additional insights to aid the decision making process. It would be a rather strange world if we told our children to not bother at school or get a job to get some real life experience because all you need to worry about is doing well on a screening test which will guarantee the employer, without any bias of its own, that you are the right candidate for the job. Ditching CV’s is a noble aspiration but I don’t see how it really is the answer to the challenges in recruitment. #recruitment #talentacquisition #psychometrics

The "Big Stay" is here as employees are adopting a "better the devil you know" mindset!! According to recent CIPD research people are reluctant to move jobs for fear of being the last in and first out if things go wrong. However, this surely means that many people in the workplace will be showing up disengaged and operating in roles because they have to and not necessarily because they want to. In my view the organisations and HR teams that recognise this, and encourage a "people positive" culture which puts the individual first will make the most of this opportunity! 😎 #tio #performance #teams #hr #culture #development

Two key themes emerged this week from my conversations with HR, talent acquisition, and L&D. The first is the struggle to find talent, while the second is the need to recruit better people due to high attrition rates. When it comes to finding talent, it's important to ask line managers to define what they mean by talent. Often, job descriptions may detail specific knowledge requirements, such as 10 years of SAAS experience in a particular vertical. While this is important, it's not the same as talent. By clarifying what is meant by talent, you can more effectively search for the best fit for your organization. As for high attrition rates, it's important to understand that this is a complex issue with multiple causes. However, one important step is to ensure that employees feel engaged and connected to their work. By fostering a sense of connection and understanding, you can help reduce attrition rates and retain top talent. Enjoy the weekend 😎 #hr #talent #tio #development #recruitment
