Director, Global Initiative against Transnational Organised Crime

Tomorrow, I will be giving some opening remarks at the panel “Rising organized criminality in the Pacific islands – What drives it?” where we will discuss how the criminal landscape in the Pacific is changing rapidly. As the growing presence of foreign criminal and private sector actors drives the emergence of new criminal markets and deepens existing ones, how can local authorities tackle the situation? Panelists Laura Adal, Peter Aitsi MBE, Virginia Comolli, and Dr Tamasailau (Sailau) Suaalii-Sauni, will lead the conversation.
