⚡As artificial intelligence (#AI) continues to expand globally, so too does the requirement for 24/7 uninterrupted power. 🖥 Natron is initially targeting data centres for its #sodium-ion #batteries from its facility in Holland, Michigan from June this year. Uninterruptible power supplies (UPSs) therefore represent a great test-bed platform as the technology scales and matures. 📈 With a proposed lower cost of production, sodium-ion is expected to make significant headway within the stationary storage and UPS markets, which typically have less-stringent requirements for energy density. 🔋 Like with #lithium-ion batteries, the underlying raw material supply chains for sodium-ion will shape the narrative over the coming years. Although Project Blue forecasts that the supply risk for sodium salt is low, the requirement for battery-grade materials represents an additional layer of complexity.
