Vauxhall's Electric Streets: Charging up Britain! One year on, and Vauxhall Motors Ltd's not slowing down. Their Electric Streets campaign is revving up another gear, aiming to drive EV sales by the UK’s motorists. James Taylor, Vauxhall UK's MD, hit the airwaves earlier on BBC1's flagship show Business Today. He shone a light on the dire need for more residential chargers. With 40% of UK households lacking driveways, it's time councils picked up the pace! From Bloomberg to GB News and across multiple BBC and local commercial radio outlets, his messaging has been resonating today. #VauxhallEV #ElectricStreets #SustainableUK

Today we launched the latest part of Vauxhall Motors Ltd's Electric Streets of Britain campaign to raise awareness of the need to improve access to on-street EV charging. A new freedom of information request to UK councils revealed that only 2% of on-street chargers, crucial to those who can't charge at home, have been adapted for disabled users. We think this needs to be addressed and want to see the recommended guidelines for disabled access to chargers become mandated. The UK is going electric at pace. Some fantastic operators are installing many new chargers. What better time for some joined-up thinking from the authorities on ensuring that everyone is included in the move to a more sustainable electric future? Vauxhall's new ‘Energising a Better Britain’ campaign showcases their electric van range through a comprehensive media strategy, including TV, radio, print, and digital media, and partnerships with British Gas and OpenReach to highlight fleet integration. As businesses move towards sustainability, the demand for electric vans will naturally increase and Vauxhall’s campaign positions their e-LCV range as a key player in this transition. Vauxhall’s initiative is a well-executed move towards helping to mainstream electric vans in the UK and by addressing the needs of business owners and promoting the advantages of EVs, such as long-term cost savings and reduced maintenance, dealers can enhance their appeal and drive adoption of electric vans. #ElectricVehicles #MarketingStrategy #VanDealers

Figures published by the Department for Transport this week show promising signs of growth in the UK’s electric vehicle charging network. As of 1 January 2024, there were over 53,000 public charging devices installed across the country, 20,705 of which were classed as ‘on street’ chargers – nearly 40% of the network. While the growth in the UK’s charging network is encouraging, these figures will need to continue to rise to match the increasing demand for electric vehicles. At Vauxhall, we are committed to ensuring everyone retains the freedom of personal mobility as we accelerate towards an all-electric future. That is why we launched Electric Streets of Britain, which welcomes drivers to register the need for residential charge points in their area helping to ensure there is sufficient and accessible on street charging for all, especially for the 40% of UK households without access to off-street parking. ⚡ Helpful map from Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom showing how many publicly available #EVcharging points there are in the UK...⚡ It shows the density of charging devices by local authority, but helpfully also devices per 100,000 population. East Suffolk, where I live, seems to be middle of the league table, but somewhat lagging behind when you compare that to total population. However, we fare better in terms of faster chargers (50kW and above). In my role on the local town council, I'm aware of the efforts East Suffolk Council have made to support the updating of charging points in the town. However, the number of devices still remains very low. What's your local area like and has this put you off getting an #EV car? See the interactive map: https://lnkd.in/eJUWhank Mobilityways 🌍

This is a great YouTube video, devoid of hype, that is a MUST watch 👀. I cannot believe this guy flew all the way out to Chicago to investigate. THIS is the type of objective analysis we need around EV. As an industry, we need to understand where the gaps are and address them, whether they be lack of garage/home charging, limited infrastructure, insufficient driver education, rideshare driver pileups (due to Hertz discounting of rentals), broken chargers, software limitations, or low temperature physics. All of these topics are covered in detail throughout the video, and essentially, it's a compounding problem we're dealing with here. Honest reporting drives the industry forward, so let's get real around EV! #ev #automotive #batterytechnology #rideshare #evrental

Desire to improve knowledge and understanding along with building enduring partnerships within the fleet decarbonisation industry through a consultancy based sales approach.
What a great end last night to two brilliant days at the The Association of Local Bus Company Managers annual conference hosted by Ben Wakerley and Warrington's Own Buses. A brilliant and humorous motivational talk by Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards, where his words really resonated around accelerating from the 10m hill to the 40m hill in 1 day (in the case of the bus sector, we really need to accelerate the electrification of fleets) and also resilience in proving the naysayers wrong (and there are a lot of naysayers around EV's and as an industry we need to be resilient keeping fighting to prove that electrification is the right thing to do). Having listened to how Warrington's Own Buses electrified their bus depot and started taking delivery of battery electric buses, which by October see them as one of the first UK bus operators to be 100% electric. We also heard from Tony Depledge about future policy changes that may be coming to the industry. Had some great conversations with operators, potential suppliers and even a competitor or two. Really looking forward to the ALBUM conference in 2025 which will be hosted by Nottingham City Transport. #VEV #ALBUM2024 #WarringtonsOwnBus #NottinghamCityTransport #ZeroEmissionBuses

Currently, the UK has approximately one million pure EVs and around 60,000 public charging points, which works out to roughly one charger per 17 vehicles. 🔋 According to SMMT projections, by 2030, there will be about nine million EVs on UK roads. 🚗⚡️ To maintain the current level of coverage, an additional 48,000 public charge points will be needed. 📈 If you can get ahead of the game now through installing chargers into your businesses, hotels, golf courses, gyms and schools you'll reap the rewards as demand continues to increase. ⚡️ ☎️ 0800 099 6150 | 📩 info@evchargeanddrive.co.uk #drivingagreenfuture #evcharging #netzero

Last year I was asked to participate in the House of Lords enquiry into UK EV strategy, the report for which has been published today. It makes for an interesting read and you can do so here: EV strategy: rapid recharge needed (parliament.uk) It’s clear that consumer choice of EVs is on the up – at Vauxhall, we’ll already offer an electric version of every car and van in our range from the end of this year – and that customers love the driving experience of electric when they try one. However, there is still much to do in terms of making the switch to electric more affordable and convenient for all. There are three main things I think could help move Britain faster to an electric future. Fairer pricing on public charging by reducing the rate of VAT to 5% to match home charging; a more balanced set of financial incentives so that retail customers, and not just company car drivers, are encouraged to go electric; and whilst many charge point operators are doing a great job of installing new chargers quickly, we really need Government to increase its focus on enabling these companies to go even faster by speeding up planning, access to funds and access to the grid. At Vauxhall Motors Ltd, we’re focused on making it easy for people to go electric, and our Electric Streets campaign is all about trying to help the 40% of the UK’s motorists without off-street parking, and therefore easy home charging, to make the switch. Americans aren’t buying as many EVs as the Biden admin wants: 1. EVs cost more 2. EVs are inconvenient 3. EVs make us more dependent on China The forced EV transition is foolish and Americans are rejecting it.

With an unpredictable economy, I shared with PRWeek that increasing EV adoption is “about telling the story of personal value, not global value.” Specifically, comms teams should demonstrate how EVs can affect consumers’ everyday lives, rather than focusing on the vehicles’ broader impact. The average person’s first concern is the price of groceries before thinking about wider societal issues. Thanks for having me join this discussion, Ewan! #Comms #PR #Tips #EV #Adoption #Economy #Value
The electric vehicle revolution isn’t going to plan, but PR pros can help to reroute it with a few simple steps. Read the analysis featuring Daniel Roberts, Joyride Group's Katelyn Davis, Allison Worldwide's Brent Diggins and DrivePath Advisors' Kent Robertson.
