Cycle Lane Separators to be removed - a really unfortunate outcome in Richmond. I have for some time been concerned with the installation of these grey coloured narrow separators on road safety. I have seen drivers driving over them on multiple occasions. Even with reflectors - which often get knocked off - there just not visible enough. When I was early on in my career there was a focus on the minimum area of these islands. Not making them too small. Yet nowadays we have some very narrow delineators/islands. That rule has been thrown out. Especially older drivers find them hard to see I do think this is a case of designers not being aware of issues faced by older drivers. Surely we can make them stand out better. They don’t neccessary need to be canary yellow. After two weeks in Asia where there black and white kerbing stands out I wonder why we can’t have more visible delineators. I am not suggesting we have to go black and white. But surely we can do better than grey concrete. Coloured concrete is used elsewhere.

15m Go Fast Stepped Hull Sport Boat Outboards 3x300hp Architecture&Design Andrei Rochian Hull performance analysis and speed prediction - **LOA**: 15 m (Length overall) - **LWL**: 12.8 m (Length at waterline) - **Bmax**: 3.9 m (Maximum beam) - **BWL**: 2.8 m (Beam at waterline) - **Height of Hull**: 2.2 m - **Power**: 3 x 300 hp (900 hp total) - **Displacement/Weight estimated based on construction) 12,858 kilograms. **Planing Mode Prediction**: The total power available is 900 hp (3 x 300 hp). Power-to-weight ratio: 0.07 horsepower per kilogram. Froude number based on the estimated maximum speed, is approximately 3.44 **Estimated Speed Calculation**: **Maximum Speed in Planing Mode 75 knots. This is the estimated top speed the boat could achieve when planing, utilizing the full power of the three 300 hp engines (900 hp total). High-Speed Turning Stability: Plumb Bow (Longer Waterline): More Stability: The longer waterline provided by the plumb bow contributes to significantly better stability during high-speed turns. The boat has more surface area in contact with the water, meaning it is less likely to skid or slide sideways. Safer Handling in Rough Seas: The boat’s more predictable handling in sharp turns, especially in rough conditions, makes it ideal for offshore and high-speed operations where safety and control are critical. Raked Bow (Shorter Waterline): More Agility but Less Stability: While the shorter waterline of the raked bow allows for faster, tighter turns, it comes at the cost of stability. The bow tends to rise during turns, reducing the hull’s contact with the water, making the boat more prone to skidding or loss of control at very high speeds. Riskier in Aggressive Turns: For boats that will be operated aggressively or in rough waters, the lack of lateral stability in a raked bow could lead to less safe handling, particularly in offshore conditions.

How to Tell the Difference Between a Kayak and Canoe https://lnkd.in/gF83SbCZ Kayaks and canoes are both types of small watercraft, but they have distinct differences in design, usage, and paddling technique. Here’s how to tell them apart: 1. Design and Structure: Kayak: Deck: Kayaks usually have a closed deck, which covers the boat’s top. Seating: The paddler sits low inside the kayak, often on the bottom or on a low seat, with legs extended in front. Cockpit: Kayaks have a cockpit where the paddler sits, and a spray skirt can be used to cover it and prevent water from entering. Shape: Kayaks are typically narrower and more streamlined. Canoe: Deck: Canoes...
