Formnext 2024: A Marketing Team’s Perspective 🚀 This year’s Formnext - Where ideas take shape is behind us, and we’re still processing all the emotions, conversations, and amazing feedback we received. It wasn’t just a test of what we already know about marketing, but also a chance to try out completely new ideas. 💡 A huge thank you to everyone who took the time to share their thoughts, both privately and on camera. Your feedback means the world to us and motivates us to keep moving forward with even greater determination. It’s incredibly rewarding when the hard, sometimes exhausting work – from planning to execution – is noticed and appreciated by so many people. 👏🏻 This year, we designed our booth with one clear goal: to eliminate any distractions during the first interaction with visitors and focus their attention completely on our brand. The space was divided into separate rooms, each dedicated to showcasing the details of our innovations: Powder2Powder, new feeders and automation features of rePowder device (wire feeder, bar feeder, automated plasma torch), and finally the whole rePowder device. This setup encouraged exploration and gave us a unique way to highlight what makes us stand out. Seeing how well this concept resonated and how many people were drawn into the experience was truly satisfying. 🌟 Events like Formnext remind us why we love what we do. They push us to innovate, experiment, improve, and raise the bar each time. Of course, not everything went perfectly, but that’s part of the process when tackling such large projects. We’ll take those moments as lessons for the future. Like every year, we’ve learned a lot and already have ideas for how to do even better next time. 🔜 Last but not least, we want to thank the entire AMAZEMET team, with special thanks to Arkadiusz Nizio – your contribution was invaluable. This incredible collaboration has already produced amazing results, but we know we’re capable of so much more. The best is yet to come! 🏋🏻 Kacper Obłuski & Jakub F. Generative Design allows AI to test site solutions independently based on specific project requirements. Users can easily define the targets they need for the following building types: Housing Subdivisions Retail Modular Industrial Data Centers Hotel Office Parking (Structured, Surface, Precast) Clifton says you can generate “25 thousand results in 10 seconds” with their tool. The filters allow you to sort and limit the number of designs you want to work on. The filters include: Units Average Unit Area Parking Ratio Net Rentable Square Feet Site Efficiency Height of Building Floor Area Ratio (FAR) Unit Density (Dwelling Units per Acre) Site Coverage
I enjoyed interviewing Clifton Harness, CEO and Co-Founder of TestFit, on their new Generative Design software. It helps architects, developers, contractors, and cities explore and optimize various building designs using several performance indicators. There has been a lot of discussion recently about the better use of AI in engineering practices. In most of these discussions, engineers and tech leads agreed that it would take more time and effort "to figure it out". In reading Michael Helfer post today, I felt that this is the right time to celebrate engineering creativity, innovation, and leadership, which is exactly what engineering leadership is about. There are many people who believe that this is true, and Joan Puche Gonzalez is one of them -:). This is why companies should keep talents and share knowledge to succeed in competitive innovation. #agileleadership; #innovationleadership;
Why Engineering Leaders Must Walk the Floor in the Age of AI In an era where artificial intelligence reshapes boundaries, Boeing’s evolution from hands-on manufacturing to a disconnected assembly of outsourced parts serves as a stark reminder of what we stand to lose when leaders distance themselves from the core of their craft. As an engineering leader, I've navigated from coding on the front lines to orchestrating from the executive suite. Leadership isn't merely about steering—it's fundamentally about understanding, at a granular level, the work that we oversee. We must be engineers, lest we become mere editors of a book we cannot read. To challenge myself and "walk the floor" in our digital age, I embarked on a personal project unconnected to my day-to-day work. I decided to develop a mobile app using Flutter, a language new to me, and GitHub Copilot for assistance. I chose an on-device project to avoid cloud networking costs, and I set a non-negotiable goal to finish it—publishing in the App Store was my definitive "done." Spoiler: I succeeded—Yet Another Spider Solitaire (Y.A.S.S) is now available in the app store. Install Y.A.S.S. on your device here: https://bit.ly/4a4zKeT This journey wasn’t just about dusting off my programming skills but reinforcing a crucial leadership philosophy: understanding through doing. Tools like Copilot enhance our capabilities but cannot replace the foundational knowledge that an experienced engineer brings. In the final stages of the project, I partnered with a friend who brought complementary skills to the table. This collaboration not only enhanced the quality of Y.A.S.S but also reinforced my belief that effective leadership involves knowing when to leverage the strengths of others to achieve a common goal. It isn't perfect, but as those who know me have heard me say, “unshipped software delights no customers.” So, here's to the first round of delight. I hope you like the game and welcome any feedback.

The value realisation in firms doing end to end tech just blew through the roof with what the deepseek team could achieve. This was the norm during my game dev days. 6 to 8 server boxes handled 500k concurrent gamers battling each other. But today, a simple cart will go bonkers for that ccu even with 10 times the capacity. In my view it’s not that engineering has degraded but it’s the side effect of abstraction. As one team abstracts a layer to another, inefficiencies creep in. Back to LLMs, the primary gains have been made in the reasoning part of the architecture which increases the performance and end user outcomes. Wow, win-win 🥇 Personally, I am excited to be in this decade that started 2020. Every earnest long haul engineering effort is paying off disproportionate market making outcomes.

Introducing #Slateflow: The Ultimate Docs and Diagrams Platform for Engineering Teams! 👩💻👨💻 Attention, developers! Are you spending more time wrestling with documentation tools than actually coding? Fear not! Slateflow is here to save the day (and your sanity). What is Slateflow? Slateflow, my personal project inspired by eraser.io, is currently in its beta phase and aims to revolutionize how engineering teams create and manage documents and diagrams. With a minimal UI, keyboard-driven workflows, and markdown support, Slateflow makes it incredibly easy to bring your ideas to life. #Features: 🖼️ Canvas Because stick figures don't belong in technical diagrams. - Organize your canvas with various figures and elements. - Create stunning technical diagrams. - Use our intuitive insert menu to find shapes faster than you can say, "Where did I put that icon?" ✍️ Note Editor Write like Shakespeare, but with live diagrams. - Insert live diagrams from the Canvas. - Format your documents with markdown for a professional touch. 📂 Dashboard Organize like Marie Kondo, but for docs and diagrams. - Create teams and manage files. - Keep your workspace tidy and efficient. No more "where did I put that file?" moments. Slateflow is currently in beta, and I’m excited to add more features in the future to enhance your experience even further. Join me on this journey to streamline your documentation process and unleash your team's creativity! I Value Your Feedback! Please share your thoughts to help us improve Slateflow. My brother wrote this thoughtful post about the importance of hands-on experience and continuous learning, especially for engineering leaders in the age of AI. He demonstrates his commitment to these values in the form of a game. Please give it a read and check out his new game!
