Media value and impressions are outputs. Changes in consumer perceptions and behavior are outcomes. Sponsorship can produce both, but it's much more meaningful and important to measure outcomes. I'm not saying that you shouldn't measure media value, but it is just a starting point. If your goal is to determine the true impact and results of sponsorship, your primary focus should not be on media value. As a sponsorship consultant and measurement specialist, I've learned so much from Lesa and IEG (where I started my career in sponsorship more than 20 years ago). Her thoughts and guidance on the best ways to measure sponsorship ROI still resonate with me today and are the foundation of how I approach measurement for my clients.
