As reiterated in the article by Michael Crossland, research from the University of Stirling shows that employee-owned businesses enjoy an 8-12% productivity boost compared to their non-employee-owned peers. Having paid over £3m in tax-free bonuses over the last decade, Union Industries is the perfect example of this. In just the past five years, employees received an annual bonus of £3,600, which rose to £6,500 in 2024. It has also achieved record levels of revenue and profit, with profit soaring from £130,000 in 2013/2014 to £2.4m in 2023/2024.
