Lately, being a lawyer has been a lot of fun. I enjoy my job (every aspect of it) more than ever. For reasons that I have been very discreetly, stealthily, and sparingly announcing all over the internet for the past two months. But, on this fine Friday, maybe it’s time to answer the question: who would I be if I weren't a lawyer? After all, I stumbled upon the “legal career path” quite by accident. There were a few key crossroads: my studies, my first job (where I settled comfortably), and my specialization in litigation. The choices I made may not have been random, but I was never driven by a dream to become a lawyer. And somehow, I found my place. Recently, someone asked me: if not a lawyer, then who? “An engineer,” I replied without hesitation. In school, I thought maybe an architect, but I knew that wasn’t it. Good craftsmanship has always had much more allure for me than “artistic self-expression.” But what kind of engineer? And here lies the problem, because answering such a question is like wondering what to order in your favorite restaurant when you're hungry, but can't go out. Everything looks attractive. I could have done “just civil engineering” (no offense). I would have found my place as a structural engineer, calculating parameters for structures. Heck, rail transport would have definitely appealed to 19-year-old me (still does). But there are also tantalizing niches like robotics, quantum engineering, aerospace, or maybe just mathematics (perhaps I would have spent 15 years on synthetic aperture radar). Speculating is fun. And maybe if I had turned towards engineering school instead of law, I would have been equally lucky, somewhat carelessly choosing directions at various crossroads? I’m working through my “Introduction to Agentic Engineering” course, here is the human in the loop section. My introduction is mostly theoretical, not technical. I will dig deeper into the technical implementations in future streams, but initial free course is basically to give you a kind of introduction to all the things you need to know about Agentic Engineering without actually having to code anything.
