So many elementary teachers would love to offer Spanish classes to their students, but perhaps there is no funding for hiring a Spanish teacher, and even if the teachers DO know some beginner Spanish, they don't want the added burden of another prep (I totally get that!). Well, what if... You had all the lessons done for you and all you had to do is print the materials, sit with small groups of 4-6 students, and press "play" and "pause"? The materials come with an easy tracking chart for those who want to show parents all the cool stuff their children are learning. Also, it's all Montessori-inspired, created by a licensed Spanish teacher who has taught students from 1st grade through adulthood, and also has Montessori experience. Does your school need to be Montessori? Nope. But the approach is one that embraces inquiry-based, project-based, and constructivist methodologies, so it takes a flexible educator who maybe even wants to learn alongside their students. 😊 Want to know more? The problem is not with non english speaking children or their teachers. The problem is that we don’t take those things into consideration when evaluating a teachers performance. There is only one measurement in a world where there are numerous variables. Teachers should not be evaluated based on “standardized testing” that assumes everyone learns at the same rate and should develope at the same pace. It is the public education system and bureaucracy that is failing us. Not immigrant children or teachers.
