Notice how Ray Dalio is recommending: (1) Emphasize it's a conversation involving people with varied expertise and perspective; (2) very important - initial conclusions are tested at low cost, with limited resources, and in a relatively short amount of time; and after successful testing, this leads to (3) systems that eliminate the problem moving forward as people are trained and master the new process. Maybe we should stop rushing to conclusions based on assumptions and past wounds... :)

Though Ray Dalio made this statement in a very different context, i think this concept has a great potential when you pull in #AI. Currently conversation is linear. You might have made great progress in some negotiation or pitch and at one point that would have fallen apart. Suppose you could go back to the ,say, 81st conversation (on mail or chat) and take it from there, the conversation becomes multi-dimensional. Won't work in many situations (like with your spouse) but in many places especially in strategy building , planning within your company or with other companies, the ability to go back to a point of agreement and then taking a diversion, may change everything. The last chat should not be "the weakest link in the chain" of conversations.

When considering an issue or situation, there should be two levels of discussion: the case at hand and the relevant principles that help you decide how the machine should work. You need to clearly navigate between these levels in order to handle the case well, test the effectiveness of your principles, and improve the machine so similar cases will be handled better in the future. #principleoftheday
