Tough cuts were made this legislative session, and many programs benefiting our state's children landed on the chopping block 😔. Investing in our children’s future should always be a top priority. As we look ahead to the next session, it's time to rally together and ensure the wellbeing of our kids is no longer short-changed. Their potential must be nurtured, not negotiated. The title of this year's CML State of Our Cities and Towns Report is appropriately called "Unfunded." So many big ideas and lofty goals come from our partners at the state and federal level... but what is often lacking are the resources to implement the unfunded mandates that come with those big ideas. This report identifies the costs of those mandates and how they impact municipal governments, local taxpayer resources, and the services that municipalities provide.

Today, NASCUS published the Advantages of the Iowa State Charter. This is the 13th state completed as part of the state benefits guide project.
