Where is the access to a port at risk? Infrastructure is the bloodline of our economy, supply, and wealth. We need to ensure that we mitigate associated risks and have contingency plans in place. Baltimore will become a case for good or poor disruption management. The lives lost should be a reminder of the fragility of our world and the need to use all we have to avoid such human catastrophes in future. Thanks for putting this together, Jean-Paul Rodrigue. This list is long, although it only covers North America. More work needs to be done in infrastructure and supply chain risk management. #riskmanagement #supplychain #ports #transport #infrastructure

As we honor the legacy that is Juneteenth, we not only look at the history that intertwines with Miami, but we also acknowledge the work that still must be done. Our great city of Miami has played a large role throughout history, namely being home to the "Saltwater Railroad", a coastal waterway that many enslaved people followed to escape the Southern slave states and enter the British-controlled Bahamas. The Saltwater Railroad served a similar purpose to the Underground Railroad, with movement beginning as early as 1821. For many, the Bahamas were the only viable option for escape as northern states and British Canada were thousands of miles away. In fact, according to the article linked below, by the 1830s it is estimated that 6,000 enslaved people had escaped to the islands.
