The first private jet #NIL deal has landed. Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart signs a partnership with Oxford, Mississippi based Nicholas Air, which allows Dart to have hours using the company's fleet of private jets for travel, training, and philanthropy. This is the first such deal in the nearly three years of NIL's existence. (Although there have been airline/airport related NIL partnerships that have taken place.) As I pitch travel-related companies on brand deals for my athletes (hotels, luggage, etc.) it surprises me more of these companies aren't in the NIL space. Given the amount of travel players undertake for their sport and the large number of athletes who play college sports far away from their hometown and family, it seems like a natural fit for these brands to partner with college athletes and have them promote said products while traveling for games. Incredible scenes in Liverpool yesterday for the naming ceremony of Cunard’s new cruise ship MS Queen Anne. (I took this pic from Birkenhead across the river)   At almost a third of a kilometre long and boasting 67,584 horsepower, you might think that this steel-hulled leviathan would stir grumblings from an environmentalist like me. After all, I spend my hols camping off grid.   But I’ve softened my position in recent years. And I now believe there’s a balance to be struck between preserving our environment and maintaining our quality of life. ⚖ Should that balance include cruising the world’s oceans? I don’t know. But I do know that the shipping industry has made huge progress in shrinking its environmental footprint, developing remarkable new technologies, including: ·       Air lubrication systems that ease a ship’s hull through the water ·       Wind Assisted Ship Propulsion (WASP) ·       On-board solar power ·       Hyper-efficient engines running on low-sulphur fuels ·       Exhaust gas cleaning systems   And maritime eco-pioneers like Windward Shipping have partnered with Greenify to fund amazing environmental projects around the globe, including ocean-bound plastic recovery and vital reforestation work. 🌳🌳🌳   I won’t be booking passage on MS Queen Anne any time soon.
