What is a simmering pot? It is essentially a pot of water filled with various ingredients (typically a mix of herbs, spices, fruits, or flowers) simmering on the stove, creating a fragrant aroma that will fill your home. Simmering pots are a great way to use up old fruit & herbs. What you need for a springtime simmering pot: - Water - Lemons - Rosemary - Chamomile - Dutch Over How to Make: 1. Thinly slice the lemons, then remove the chamomile buds from their stems by pinching the place where the bottom of the bud meets the stem. 2. Fill the dutch oven with 4 cups of water and turn stove to medium heat. Place the sliced lemons, springs of rosemary, and chamomile buds in the pot. 3. When the pot begins to simmer, turn the stove down to low heat. Continue to simmer, uncovered for up to 2 hours. 4. Replenish water as needed to avoid the stovetop potpourri from drying out. Ingredients: 8-10 Pro V Select Figs (anjeer) 10-15 Pro V Select California Whole Natural Almonds 2½ cups reduced milk ½ cup sugar 1 tsp green cardamom powder. Popular in India, kulfi is a healthier version of ice cream. Method to make: 1. Take Pro V Select Figs in a bowl. Add sufficient water and soak for 4-5 hours. 2. Drain and transfer in a grinder jar. Add ½ cup water and grind to fine paste. 3. Sliver Pro V Select CaliforniaWhole Natural Almonds. 4. Add sugar and green cardamom powder to reduced milk and cook till sugar dissolves. 5. Switch off the heat, add ground figs. Reserve some almond slivers for garnish and add remaining and mix well. 6. Allow to cool and pour the mixture individual kulfi moulds and freeze for 6-8 hours. 7. Hello Everyone 👋 Some shrinkage of puff pastry is inevitable. Although sometimes you may experience excessive shrinkage. Let's refer to the 6 most common reasons: 1. The flour is too strong or too elastic for the processing method used. 💪 2. Insufficient resting time. 🕒 3. The pH of the dough is too low. ⚖️ 4. The presence of oxidants like ascorbic acid. 🧪 5. High levels of recycled trimmings. ♻️ 6. Multigrain Khichdi Indian Rice & Lentil Casserole . 1. Wash & soak ½ cup white rice ¼ cup brown rice & ¾ cup arhar daal tuvar/ split pigeon pea lentils ¼ cup split black urad daal black gram split lentila in double the amount of water for at least 30 minutes. Brown rice & black gram lentils takes longer to cook so it is better to soak them in hot water. . 2. Heat 2 tbsp oil in a deep stock pot. Add 1 tsp cumin seeds. When the seeds start to crackle, add 4 cloves of garlic chopped. Sauté for a couple of minutes till the garlic starts to turn brown. . 3. Next add 1 onion cut into strips, 2 green chilies slit,1 tsp turmeric, a pinch of asafetida (hing) & salt. Mix well & let the onions sweat for about a couple of minutes. . 4. Drain the soaked rice & lentils & add to the pot. Mix well. Now add 4 cups of water & cook covered till there is a boil. . 5. Add ½ cup moong dal sprouts (green gram sprouts), 1 tsp roasted flaxseed, salt & pepper to taste. Mix well & cook covered for 10 minutes or till the rice & lentils are cooked through. Check for water in between & add more if required. . 6. To serve, garnish with fresh coriander leaves. Serve with a pickle of your choice & a plain raita (yogurt spiced with cumin powder, salt & paprika) . What are kefir grains? I recently shared ways to use kefir sour cream and got asked what exactly are kefir grains. If you’ve ever made Kombucha before, you’ll be familiar with the term SCOBY. A SCOBY is a symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeasts. Just like the kombucha “mushroom” (aka. SCOBY), the kefir grains are another type of SCOBY. The kefir grains look a bit like cauliflower, but are sort of soft and elastic; some may find them to be slightly slimy. The slimy texture is probably due to the kefirans in the grains, a type of polysaccharide that is released by the grains into the kefir. The grains themselves are composed mostly by a mixture of bacteria, yeasts, and proteins with some lipids and sugars (the kefirans, for example).
