This is a question I get asked all the time, and the answer is yes! 🏀🏈⚽ If you're a High School student thinking about college, being a sports official can give your university application a boost and potentially open doors for positions with collegiate sports teams. Let's not forget the invaluable role referees play in the game. Without referees, there is no game - it's just practice. 🤝 How do you get started with becoming a High School sports official? NFHS is a great resource and check out the RefMasters app to learn how to run the game and connect with other referees.

Sports Day: Where Every Child Finds Their Moment to Shine Sports Day is one of those events where excitement fills the air. As teachers, we’re always on the sidelines, cheering for our students, watching them run, jump, and give their best. But this year, something truly unforgettable happened. One of the kids who usually sits quietly at the back of the class—someone who struggles with academics and rarely speaks—absolutely stunned us. On the field, they transformed. They ran with unmatched energy, their determination leaving everyone speechless. By the end of the race, they weren’t just a winner—they were a hero. The students who usually top the class looked at them differently that day, realizing something profound: excellence isn’t one-size-fits-all. Not all children will excel in studies, but that doesn’t mean they lack talent or potential. As a teacher, it was a humbling moment. I was reminded that every child carries a spark—our role is to help them find where it shines brightest. Whether it’s sports, music, art, or academics, every student deserves to feel seen, celebrated, and valued. To my fellow educators and parents: Let’s redefine success for our kids. Let’s teach them that being good at something doesn’t mean being good at everything. And let’s remind them that their strengths—no matter where they lie—are worth celebrating.
