Martin Cowley’s Post

“Global distribution systems have queues for schedule adjustments and the like that agencies routinely deal with; NDC is different because the systems of record are run by the airlines rather than the GDSs. Enter the Order Change Notification (OCN).” No. Sorry. Enter yet more chaos! Read and laugh… or weep. This is an example of what some people call progress. “Order Change Notification”. Who comes up with these names that simply cry out for yet another acronym? No standard, no consistency. Just another dollop of chaos. A happy medium is nothing more than a lame compromise. Playing “Whac-a-Mole” with the changes that are a fundamental part of corporate travel is nothing more than another Nail in the Distribution Coffin that is #NDC. Nothing more. Lamentable! #OrderChangeNotification #NoStandards #WhacAMole #GetBasicsRight #CorporateTravel International Air Transport Association (IATA) #NailintheDistributionCoffin #NewDistributionChaos #NDC

Airlines don’t seem to understand how agencies consume their products and how they operate to provide service to their customers / travelers. Managing OCN’s per airline is certainly yet another challenge.

Love a game of whack-a-mole but not with schedule changes.
