Last week, the Precision team participated in an enriching discussion on amplifying the impact of the 'Put Tools in Schools' initiative in Mecklenburg County schools. Our goal is to make sure every child knows their potential and the vast array of career paths available to them. 'Put Tools in Schools' isn’t just about tools – it’s about opening young minds to the vibrant world of trades. It’s a hands-on experience that showcases the multiple opportunities available in the trades sector. In an era where the traditional 4-year university route is often spotlighted, we're passionate about revealing the alternative, equally rewarding paths that await after high school. With trades, students can embark on a promising career journey, perhaps even earlier than their peers, with tangible skills and less financial strain. This is just one way Precision Plumbing is commitment to the community, as well as ensuring students know all the avenues to success. After all, every path is unique, and every journey is valid.

It’s so refreshing to see the college scam disintegrating before our eyes. Generations X and Y were lied to by Boomers who should’ve known better, and many industries have suffered deeply because of it. The wheel of the university industrial complex is finally breaking. The 24 years of experience I’ve gained in marketing and brand are worth more than anything I learned in college, and the knowledge I use each day is rarely anything from that period of time. My minors in film, theatre, and political science have been more useful than my digital media major, and working with the brands I’ve been exposed to, as well as building my own, informed much more than any “labs” or half-hearted PowerPoint-droning lectures ever did. Nearly nothing digital from the early-00s is still relevant. I will never forget, while working for Apple on my campus, the day I hosted a keynote broadcast viewing (via sat link - not YouTube!) when iDVD was announced. With one application, the 6hr senior credit for DVD authoring we all would have to eventually put hours and hours of work into was changed to a point and click process of 30min. That was the day I knew for sure the performative nature of the university degree on many fields (like mine) was dubious. Plenty of disciplines need college: doctors, lawyers, other sciences, mathematics and engineering… but not all. And it is high time we understood that as a culture.
