São Paulo – what a place! #Brazil has been the second stop on my South American tour and this huge metropolis has to be one of the most dynamic cities I have ever visited. And the modernised #dealership and new-format city store I’ve visited fit right in! ➡ I am very happy to say that I’ve found the Latin American region overall to be in very good shape for us. The Volkswagen brand is very strong here; we have the perfect product portfolio and great #partners like Volkswagen Financial Services. Our dealer network is also really strong, reaching customers right where they are. ➡ It is clear that everyone is putting the customer at the heart of everything they do and you can be very, very sure – we will be growing even further here with our outstanding #products and #innovations.

🚗 "Bologna, Italy, is the capital of a region that makes some of the fastest cars in the world, like Ferraris, Lamborghinis, and Paganis. But now those speedy makes, along with all other cars, will be required to slow to a new speed limit of 30 kilometers an hour while in Bologna." 🚦 Even the New York Times (https://lnkd.in/dx4ZATFX) took notice! This recent news got us thinking. It's like having a Ferrari but being told to drive it like a golf cart! Quite the twist, right? But beyond the humor, there's a deeper lesson here about power and responsibility. It's a reminder that no matter how flashy or powerful something may be, there's always a need for balance and accountability. At Business Operations Solutions, we see this as more than just a quirky Italian story. It's a valuable insight that applies across the board. Whether you're tackling management challenges, refining strategies, or nurturing organizational development, finding the right balance between power and control is key. Let's chat about how we can take this wisdom and apply it to your specific situation. Together, we can navigate challenges, spark innovation, and build a path to lasting success—no matter what industry you're in. #ManagementConsulting #PowerAndControl #Responsibility #Innovation #Strategy #Bologna #Italy

I'm in Europe (Germany and Austria specifically) for the first time in my life. Berlin Marathon with 50,000 others on Sunday 🏃♂️ Observations on Europe so far: 1. There are essentially zero pickup trucks. I saw one Dodge 1500 in Berlin and that was it. People are towing small travel trailers with sedans and SUVs. This makes me think we overestimate the need for large trucks in the US. Thoughts? 2. Cranes everywhere! They seem to use cranes even for smaller residential construction projects, including remodels and rennovations. Would there be efficiency gains if we used cranes more in the US? 3. No hosts/hostesses at the sit-down restaurants I've been to. You walk in and there is no waiting area. You just have to flag down a waiter to get a seat. Kind of weird. 4. Visited a Nike store in Germany and they didn't even offer a bag at checkout. This is great because I'd usually rather not have a bag anyway. Just one more thing I have to dispose of. 5. Far fewer towels available in the hotels. Our hotels have had two bath towels, one hand-drying towel, no wash clothes, and one shower mat/towel. Guessing this is in an effort to be environmentally conscious. This has been sufficient for our needs and makes sense. 6. Generally different business hours. Shops seem to close earlier. Restaurants will often close down in the afternoon between 2-4pm. 7. Tap water quality is excellent. My limited research is that Germany has higher water quality standards than the US and relies less on chemicals for treatment. No taste of chlorine. 8. The Autobahn is a blast to drive on, and drivers were very curtious. In the sections with no speed limit there were typically three lanes. The right lane was usually traveling at 80mph, the middle at 90mph, and the left lane at 100mph+. Would be cool to remove the speed limits where appropriate on US freeways. It's fun to see the different ways of doing things here, and thinking of ways to bring it back to the US. 📸 In the tower of the Hohensalzburg Fortress in Salzburg, Austria. This fortress is on the top of a mountain, and was built in 1077. Never been conquered in nearly 1000 years!

🚅 I recently went to France with the new Eurostar (love the branding 😍 ), but on my way back I managed to miss my connection. 🚌 In the end I ended up taking the Flixbus back, because at that point the prices were through the roof. 👁 It reminded me of this vision on future European train travel by Laura van Overhagen, commissioned by the Seamless Personal Mobility Lab at the TU-Delft. I really went all out animating this one. What do you think of our current European train travel? And how do you think we can tackle its current issues and competition from the aviation industry?

Last week I was fortunate to finish a seven-day bike race across the French Alpes. Like many things in life, it was difficult, and reflected the journey of leading an Inc. 5000 growth company like Smith Teamaker. Here are a few parallels that came to mind ... DISCIPLINE: You’ve got to put the time in, measure the results, refine the strategy, and get the work done … especially when it’s hard and uncomfortable. FUEL: You’ve got to feed the engine, which means getting the right people, culture and capabilities in place, together with the right capital structure. Hustle gets you a long way, but you need constant fuel to get over the finish line. FOCUS: Big results come from big goals … usually with some big mistakes and learnings along the way. During the dark moments, reduce your heart rate, focus on what you’ve trained to do, and never lose the belief that the mission is worth the effort. #HauteRoute; #HauteRouteFrance Haute Route

How do the Olympics impact local logistics and the forwarding industry? Major events like the Olympic Games bring unique challenges to organizers, local businesses, and logistics providers alike. With Paris as the host, many companies faced significant restrictions due to road closures and limited access to key areas. So, how do you ensure transportation and deliveries when entire streets are blocked off and trucks are no longer an option? Heppner tackled this challenge with innovation and sustainability—by turning to bicycles! Using remote hubs and bicycle logistics, they managed to navigate red zones and access-restricted areas, achieving an impressive 60 deliveries per day in the city’s most difficult locations. ✅ Well done, Heppner!
