It is my hope that these officers will never be complicit in acts of harassment and will take a lead role in the fight against the phenomenon of #harassment.

Again, what happened to the Whistleblower protection laws? 🤔👍🏻😎⚓️🔱🇺🇸🏴☠️ The Whistleblower Protection Act (WPA) (5 U.S.C. § 2302(b)(8)) protects federal employees or applicants for federal employment from retaliation for making protected disclosures. The WPA also provides penalties for supervisors who retaliate against whistleblowers. What protections does the Act provide to whistleblowers? Whistleblowers, or potential whistleblowers, can be compensated for any loss, damage, or injury they suffer. It is illegal to fire, harass or discriminate against a whistleblower or potential whistleblower because someone thinks they made a disclosure.

Multiple parties have released a joint report to encourage the establishment of a Whistleblowers Protection Authority (WPA). Transparency International, the Human Rights Law Centre, and Griffith University (QLD), recognise that "there is a general problem with the inaccessibility of current legal protections for whistleblowers." The current barriers to whistle blowing can include time, cost, and lack of legal expertise, especially in the event where a whistleblower is unsupported or is treated unfairly. At Truth Investigations, we recognise the need for greater support of whistleblower and hope that a WPA can be established in the future.
