At Tata Motors, I had an opportunity to visit Maruti Transport Logistics as part of a project aimed at understanding and addressing challenges in their fleet. I was able to understand the industry dynamics with this experience. 1️⃣ MIL Issues in 6 Cylinder Engines: Engaging with Maruti Transport Logistics, we proactively sought feedback regarding issues faced with 6-cylinder engines. 2️⃣ No Significant Issues Reported: It was heartening to learn that there were no major issues reported by Maruti Transport Logistics. This reaffirms our commitment to delivering high-quality vehicles that meet industry standards. 3️⃣ Tata Fleet Dominance: The feedback highlighted the prevalent use of Tata Fleet vehicles, showcasing the trust and reliance on Tata Motors' offerings in the logistics sector. 4️⃣ Nationwide Car Trailers: Discovering that Maruti Transport Logistics predominantly utilizes All India Car Trailers emphasizes the widespread reach and usage of transportation solutions across the country. This insight contributes to our understanding of market trends and demands. 5️⃣ MIL in 4 Cylinder Engines:  Interestingly, feedback suggested that MIL in 4-cylinder engines faced more than four issues. One of the key learnings that I've had during my time at Mahindra and Mahindra Limited [Automotive and Farm Equipment Business] as a part of the RnD team is to think "customer first". I am a very strong believer of the fact that everyone should have an exposure to building products and performing root-cause analyses for real world problems. It broadens your imagination and helps you see through different stages of product lifecycle from a customers' point of view. Working in the tractor business has been specially more enriching in the sense that it allowed me to step away from my own so-called "privileged" point of view, and let me see the realities of rural India. For example, in terms of serviceability and repair, no matter how much effort we put into building top-notch solutions, a local mechanic is the first point of contact most of the times when something fails in the vehicle. Jugaad culture takes a precedence, a lot of user-manuals go for toss and vehicle abuse is predominant in the country. As engineers, it is paramount for us to design considering these abnormalities. It's a classic dilemma of balancing the cost implication of building a robust design versus providing affordability to the customer.  As an MBA student, I now understand how ancillary offerings enable a company to achieve this balance. Here’s my story, a journey that I hope will inspire you to step out of your comfort zone and embrace the success that lies just ahead I am a woman who took a ten-year hiatus from my career, and I have successfully restarted my professional journey four times. Today, I am not only thriving in my field but also embarking on an exciting leadership journey. It hasn't been easy, with many people doubting my ability to return to the workforce, but my supportive husband and my unwavering determination kept me moving forward. I completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical with 1st grade and job in hand. But to peruse my dream I rejected the offer. My first restart was filled with self-doubt and fear of not being relevant anymore as I was away from technical field for 3years, preparing for UPSC. However, I embraced learning with an open heart, up skilled myself, and landed a job in Indo German Tool room, a government of India Society that reignited my passion for work. It was never easy for me as I was only women Engineer in Aurangabad in design and Manufacturing Life, as unpredictable as it is, led me to step away from my career once again. The second and third restart was no easier. Balancing personal commitments while trying to reestablish myself professionally felt like an uphill battle. Yet, I persevered, driven by the belief that I still had so much to contribute. This time, I ventured into a different industry, proving to myself that it’s never too late to learn something new and excel at it. I joined Timken, the company I like the most, which welcomed me again and again with open hands. The fourth restart was perhaps the most challenging yet rewarding. Armed with the experiences of my previous comebacks, I navigated this phase with a renewed sense of confidence and purpose. I knew that the gaps in my resume did not define my capabilities. Instead, they were a testament to my ability to adapt and overcome. Today, I’m proud to have started my leadership journey and inspiring others. Each step forward, each challenge overcome, is bringing me closer to my goals. My journey wasn’t easy, but stepping out of my comfort zone was the best decision I ever made. If you’re standing at the edge of your comfort zone, uncertain about taking that next step, I hope my story encourages you to move forward. It took me 3 years of #effort to get the first workshop from Maruti Suzuki and 4 years from Hewlett Packard. May be my #luck improved but had I not persisted, it wouldn't have. As Shahrukh Khan says in the movie DDLJ, that his mom advised him to always choose the more difficult path, out of the 2 choices at each fork in life. Success comes only after persistence trying. Yes luck is also involved. But unless there is hard work, luck too doesn't work. And if the hard work is persistent then luck also changes.
