Winning Best UI/UX in my first hackathon at Technica'24 by Indian Society for Technical Education! (1/2) This thrilling 48-hour hybrid hackathon experience with over 2,000 registrants started with a case of hackathon FOMO. After a lot of hesitation, I felt it was high time I participated in my first Hackathon. We (Ameya Kore on backend/AI/ML, Sayar Bhattacharyya on frontend, and me on UI/UX & presentations) decided to tackle the AI track and create something special. While the full implementation wasn't possible in such a short time, our focus on a stellar UI/UX resonated with the judges! As a designer, being a part of the ENTIRE project as much as possible is super important. I'm saying this because I just finished a hackathon, and there was some confusion between myself (UI/UX designer) on the team and the head of research. We went back and forth about a feature in our product, and by the time I designed it, the confusion was clear. Me and them were talking about 2 completely different things - hence the confusion. This made me switch my mindset to - I need to lean into more parts of a project even if they aren't assigned to me. It would have cleared everything up.
